St Michael's Hospice (Hastings and Rother) has set a new standard for employers in the hospice sector. It is the first hospice to receive a Gold Compassionate Employers Award 🏅 Since 2022, the hospice has been part of our Compassionate Employers programme. They've been working hard to better support their employees who are dealing with grief, caregiving duties, or terminal illness. Government funding for hospices is falling far short of what’s needed to keep pace with rapidly rising costs. Currently, the majority of hospice expenses are covered by charitable donations, but this model is unsustainable. Around forty staff at St Giles Hospice have sadly been placed at risk of redundancy due to rising costs, and inadequate government funding. This really can’t go on. Our Chief Executive Toby Porter on why government must announce measures to support hospices in financial crisis.

Set in an empty warehouse, the film features heartfelt stories from staff, volunteers, and patients, illustrating what life could be like without Mountbatten’s essential services.
