New month, new site name! Today we have renamed our LinkedIn page for Horstman's UK site to better fit our overall group structure. The legal company name remains unchanged as Horstman Defence Systems Limited. But on LinkedIn, but we now match our Horstman USA and Horstman Canada sister companies, all under the umbrella of Horstman, a RENK group company.

A reminder if any is needed that Farnborough is home to advanced ground based technology as well as the famous airshow! Horstman and RENK Group were delighted to be hosted at QinetiQ's technology lab for a very interesting discussion of current market trends in unmanned ground vehicles and the future of #hybrid and #electrification with e-drives. Though mostly talking through the leading edge of tracked vehicle drives and #UGV autonomy, as a group of engineers and scientists we could not resist a group photo gathered around the innovative and famous Mobility Test Rig!  

sometimes I wonder if my level of #tankgeekery is too much... A recent holiday gave me the opportunity to visit the German Panzer Museum in Munster (it was only a short detour honest...). Obviously having been trained well by Horstman I realise that half the pictures I took are focussed directly on the running gear and suspension 😅 So for today's #tanktuesday I let you into my world and the world of Renk/Horstman. Questions - can you name the vehicles to which these running gears and suspension belong to? Can you describe the implications/ trade offs for those designs? btw - a great museum to visit! #tanks #panzerhurra

Celebrating our Future Engineers! At Horstman Defence Systems we believe in nurturing the next generation of innovative engineers, and readying them for the world of engineering by giving them essential skills such as problem-solving and communication. For the last three weeks, we have had the pleasure of welcoming 8 work experience students to Horstman who have truly impressed us with their enthusiasm and dedication to Engineering, such as Gaia (pictured) who joined our assembly team. Gaia used her great technical ability to collaborate with our talented team in manufacturing, and gained hands-on experience with the tools and precision needed to work in our industry.   Thank you to all the great students who have joined us recently for your positive contributions and hard work at Horstman, and also to our mentors who have spent their time passing on their valuable expertise. We are excited to see what the future holds for these bright engineers!

Our founder Sidney Adolph Horstmann, MBE was born in Bath, England on 7 July 1881 and died 11 July, 1962. Sydney was a British engineer and businessman that created Horstmann Gear, Horstmann Cars that became Horstman Defense Systems, and Hadrill and Horstmann, a new electrical engineering company with G. C. T Hadrill, named Hadrill and Horstmann Ltd. They were most famous for the Counterpoise Lamps they produced, which are now collectors items.

What does a RENK/Horstman employee do while on holiday? Visit the places and the history of the things he works for of course! In my vacation travels this July 4th holiday, I had the pleasure of visiting RENK America Headquartered in Muskegon, Michigan. I then went to visit The USS LST 393 museum. The USS LST 393 carried many Sherman Tanks loaded with, then Continental's and now RENK America's AVDS engine AND Horstman Suspension. The USS LST 393 made 30 round trips to the beaches of Normandy. She won battle stars for her service in the occupation of Sicily, the invasion of Salerno, and the D-day invasion at Normandy and was decommissioned in 1946. It is so wonderful to work for a company that has such massive pride in its history and who they made their products for. I am very proud to be a part of RENK Group, RENK America, and Horstman.
