About us
Hinckley & Rugby Building Society was formed in 1983 by the merger of Hinckley Permanent Building Society, which was founded in 1865 and Rugby Provident Building Society which was established in 1861. A top 20 society, Hinckley & Rugby has total assets of more than £740 million and over 50,000 savers. In addition, it has over 7,000 borrowers who are also benefiting from the Society’s success. The Society is committed to providing an extensive range of competitive savings accounts and mortgage schemes and to providing the highest standards of customer service. With 7 branches and 2 agencies, Hinckley & Rugby is not only represented in some of the towns and cities of the East and West Midlands, but it is also strongly committed to having outlets in smaller village communities, where it is often the only financial services provider for miles around. The Society is proud of its pioneering volunteer scheme ‘Community First’ which gives staff up to three days’ paid leave each year to get involved in volunteering projects of their choice. As well as opportunities to become involved with many national and local charities, the Society is committed to working with Leicestershire Cares, which fosters links between businesses and local people and organisations in need of help.

The Society’s Community Sponsorship Scheme, introduced in Spring this year, provides financial backing and support to small charities, community groups and clubs in our heartlands of Leicestershire and Warwickshire. Bright Hope, a charity serving the people of North West Leicestershire, recently applied for sponsorship to help fund their Befriending Service, which reaches out to vulnerable and sometimes isolated individuals with life limiting conditions. Their application was successful; so Guy Bennett and Carla Loughrey from our Marketing team took a trip over to Bright Hope to learn all about the charity and this important service. 💛 Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eMNjji_c #CommunitySupport #SocialCareServices #SponsorshipScheme #BuildingSociety

Did you know in the UK, 3 out of 4 suicides are men? This heartbreaking statistic underscores the urgent need for more support and awareness around men's mental health. 💛 Internally at the Society, October is all about wellbeing - and this year we're supporting Movember, the leading charity focused on improving men’s health by tackling issues like suicide prevention, early intervention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. To help raise awareness, our colleagues at Society are taking part in the Leicester Half Marathon and the 10km run on 13 October. Every donation will go directly to Movember, making a huge difference for their life-saving projects. Meet our runners: 🏃♂️ Luke Butterworth 🏃♂️ Lewis Young 🏃♂️ Caven Cheung Our runners have reached the halfway target on their fundraising campaign. 💷 UK Savings Week with Hinckley & Rugby Building Society 💷 We were delighted to partner with Hinckley & Rugby Building Society during UK Savings Week and deliver our SEND programme to the students at Dorothy Goodman School. As one of our longest-standing partners, Hinckley & Rugby have been invaluable in helping us equip young people with essential financial skills. The students at Dorothy Goodman School learned about identifying their dreams and goals, using their skills to generate income, budgeting, and saving. Led by Mel Sneath and supported by Marie Foster, Laura Flynn and Michael Flack, the day included hands-on activities like earning money through their artistic skills and shopping at our WizeUp tuck shop. A highlight of the day was the visit to the Hinckley & Rugby Building Society Branch in Castle Street, where staff educated the students about the importance of saving and the process of opening an account. The students were rewarded with goodie bags by the Building Society and the class received their first-ever "WizeUp with Hinckley & Rugby Building Society Programme" certificate. A huge well done to all the students involved, and thank you again to Hinckley & Rugby for making this partnership possible. We look forward to continuing our work together in the future. For more information on our SEND Programme, please contact Laura Flynn [[email protected]] #Financial #Education
