At Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust patient care is at the heart of everything we do. We serve around 600,000 people and run three hospitals - Andover War Memorial Hospital, Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital and Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester – as well as community services and specialist services for which we are recognised nationally and internationally. We also provide care at the Countess of Brecknock Hospice in Andover and outpatient services in Alton, Bordon and Romsey. Below is some great information about what we do at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust: • In the NHS Staff Survey, our own staff recommended us as good places to work and be treated. • We hold an annual Director of Nursing Awards and monthly WOW awards for staff. • Our staff are encouraged to innovate and improve patient care – we are active in research and development. • We have some of the lowest infection rates in England. • Patients rate us better than average on privacy, respect and dignity and also praise the cleanliness of our hospitals. • Our stroke service is recognised as one of the best performing in the UK. • We are one of only two centres in the UK treating the rare abdominal cancer pseudomyxoma peritonei and we are leaders in the field of liver and colorectal cancers. • We are pioneering intraoperative radiotherapy for breast cancer. • WOW! Congratulations to Steph Evans! Through the WOW! Awards, we at Hampshire Hospitals recognise our incredible staff’s dedication to living our iCARE values. We’re always aiming to deliver the highest quality services to our patients and visitors and our staff are a vital asset to us in achieving this. This week, we’re highlighting Steph. Read part of the wonderful nomination: “I have been on Shawford Ward for the past 12 weeks as a Student Nurse, undertaking my placement experience 7. I'd like to nominate Steph for a HHFT WOW! Award for the incredible and outstanding support and guidance she has given me during my placement with her and the team. Nothing has ever been too much trouble for Steph, she has respected me as a Student Nurse and given me so many learning opportunities, allowing me to blossom and grow. Steph has actively worked through my learning plans, seeking every avenue in which I could achieve my skills and proficiencies. She has answered every 'silly' question I have had, and strongly encouraged my professional development, reassuring me and supporting me at every step. Steph believed in me when I didn't believe in myself. My placement experience with Steph has given me back my confidence and resilience, and I'll be forever grateful for the profound impact she has had on me and my nursing journey.” Take a look at more winners and nominations at https://lnkd.in/dMabSCSE

  • We’re thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of our Annual General Meeting 2024! 💙 For the first time ever, we hosted the event both in person and via live stream, allowing us to reach more people than ever before. Over 100 attendees participated, and the engagement was fantastic. 🎥 We also took a special journey through April 2023 to March 2024 by watching a film that featured some of our wonderful staff and patients. 🎤 The Q&A session was a highlight, providing a valuable opportunity for the public to ask questions and have insightful discussions with our executives. Thank you all for your incredible support! We look forward to seeing you in 2025! 📑If you would like to catch up on our AGM or watch the review of the year, visit: https://lnkd.in/eFbKT2Sk

  • WOW! Congratulations to our Chaplaincy team! Through the WOW! Awards, we at Hampshire Hospitals recognise our incredible staff’s dedication to living our iCARE values. We’re always aiming to deliver the highest quality services to our patients and visitors and our staff are a vital asset to us in achieving this. This week, we’re highlighting the team. Read part of the wonderful nomination: “My husband was a patient in Bartlett Ward at Winchester Hospital, suffering from terminal cancer. He repeatedly said he wanted to visit Winchester Cathedral. I mentioned this to one of the chaplains who, without being asked, took it upon himself to contact the Cathedral staff. The cathedral would be opened specially for us and we would be met by one of the vergers. She would take us to the Epiphany Chapel for a quiet time, where we could also light a candle for our 19 years old grandson. As we entered the cathedral, to our joy the organist was rehearsing for the Carol service. It was a very emotional moment and one which will live in our memory forever. Thank you so very much for the effort, the thought and the love which went into making this happen. You brought peace and calm to my anxious husband. With sincere gratitude.” Take a look at more winners and nominations at https://lnkd.in/dMabSCSE

  • This month, we celebrated 20 years of the Hip and Knee School by hosting a celebration event to mark their fantastic achievements running as an active patient engagement and education project with the Trust for over two decades. The team make a huge difference, with a real focus on supporting patients to leave the hospital and return to the community with their family and loved ones, as soon as they can safely. Thanks to the work of the team at Hampshire Hospitals, in August this year, seven patients went home the same day that they had their joint replacement! • WOW! Congratulations to Helen Bloomfield! Through the WOW! Awards, we at Hampshire Hospitals recognise our incredible staff’s dedication to living our iCARE values. We’re always aiming to deliver the highest quality services to our patients and visitors and our staff are a vital asset to us in achieving this. This week, we’re highlighting Helen. Read part of the wonderful nomination: “Helen took me and my husband into another room and gave us nearly 2 hours of her time listening and understanding my history and past. From here onwards my maternity care was second to none. Helen helped to explain things to me in detail and did so in such a trauma informed way that I felt safe and secure when Helen was around. Once baby was here I had some difficulties, but Helen stayed around way past her finishing time to make sure I was ok. But not only did she make sure I was ok, she made sure my husband was ok. She looked after us both! We were in hospital for 5 days, and Helen messaged every day over the weekend to make sure we were ok, and was there first thing on the Monday in person. She went above and beyond in so many ways.” Take a look at more winners and nominations at https://lnkd.in/dMabSCSE

  • Meet George, our specialist nurse in organ donation. Says George: “In the discussions that we have with families, if someone has already made their decision on the organ donation register, eight out of ten people say, “we would fulfil that wish, become a donor.” ❤️ 🎥 Watch George’s video to learn more the importance of signing up the organ donation register. On Wednesday, our Annual General Meeting took place online and in person at The Ark, Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital. During the event, we thanked our dedicated staff, patients and the local community for their ongoing support, shared our achievements and challenges and looked ahead to the future. Alongside this, we heard from Deputy Operational Director, Clare Rolt on some of the innovative steps we are taking to reduce patient wait times. ⏳ In case you missed it, take a look at our Trust’s journey from April 2023 to March 2024, through a film featuring some of our wonderful staff and patients. 📽https://lnkd.in/emfJaQXr.
