We were so pleased to be able to offer Joanne and her family a break away last week. The family needed a bit of peace and tranquillity after a really frightening and difficult three years and we are so pleased to have been able to help with support from Becky Kipling House Barn Joanne said: “Isaac has been in and out of hospital over the past three years with end stage liver disease. He received a transplant in the middle of June. As a parent I have found it difficult to spend quality time with all my children so this break allowed us to do that. The fact that the short break was completely funded meant that we could spend quality time together. I really can't thank you enough for this short holiday. I had a lovely relaxing time with Isaac and Hattie his twin sister. The place was amazing. Location was really good. ❤️💚💙 Harry's Pals ❤️💚💙 We have had some new followers recently so I just thought I’d say a big hello, welcome and thank you for liking our page. I also thought I’d do a quick intro to anyone who wanted to quickly find out a bit more about our wonderful little charity. I’m Hayley founder of Harry’s Pals and my son Harry is the little inspiration behind the cause. A cause that we soon realised was desperately needed when we received Harry’s diagnosis of catastrophic brain damage when he was just a few days old. When we was told this heartbreaking news nine years ago l was really astounded and impacted by the lack of emotional support available to us as parents . We was just told to go home and get on with things; it was a harrowing and frightening time and there was no where to turn for support. No charites could offer us any professional emotional support and privately funding was just not an option given we was now down a wage to care. Over the years I’ve witnessed and learned of the consequences that this lack of provision is having on families who like me really need help with their mental health… at a time which is so emotionally, physically and practically hard. We offer two main services that really make a difference to families like mine. We provide families with free counselling and therapy which is bespoke to meet their needs. We also offer 2-4 night breaks, allowing for families to have the opportunity to make special memories together and get some much needed time out. We are so grateful to our Patron Dan Renton Skinner for taking on our Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge for Harry’s Pals this July. In just 12 hours Dan, widely well known as Shooting Stars, Angelos Epithemiou, will start his mission to summit all three Yorkshire peaks on 6th July 2024. The challenge Is to summit Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough and be back down in time for tea, allowing just 12 hours to do it. Climbing on average 2,300 feet to the top of each peak whilst walking over 26 miles!! This is no mean feat. Last week Shane and his family enjoyed a short break away through Harry’s Pals, we absolutely loved reading this feedback, thank you Shane. “This short break was the first time our whole family got to go somewhere all together. Because of Millie’s health conditions we are so restricted as to what we can do and where we can go. Especially when it comes to financially covering a break like this.” “The memories that we created will last a lifetime so it was absolutely life changing”. “It would never have happened without all the help and support given to us. From the moment we found out it had been booked we had a wave of happiness and excitement at the thought of actually getting a trip away”. “And the short break didn’t disappoint. It all went really well from start to finish. It was just perfect. It might be all over but we still sit here scrolling through the photos and smiling at all the amazing memories and we will do for a very long time. So from each and everyone of our family we just want to say a huge thank you.”
