What a fantastic journey it's been! The Halo Team recently gathered in Nottingham to be presented the Kings Award for Innovation by Professor Veronica Pickering MBS HAC HM Lord-Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire and we took a moment as a team to look back at how far we've come since the inception of Halo. Today is World Mental Health Day, an important day to raise awareness of mental health issues and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a priority worldwide 💙 This years focus is on mental health within the workplace, highlighting the importance of addressing mental health and wellbeing at work and looking out for those around you for the benefit of people, organisations and communities🏢 What better way to announce my moment of madness on LinkedIn that next year I will be running the London Marathon for Mind - a charity that has a very close place in my heart after my own battles with mental health and losing friends and family too. Mental health awareness is important everyday, not just today, but the more we can do in the here and now the more we can make mental health support and services accessible for everybody. Currently 2 million people are stuck on waiting lists for NHS mental health services, with suicide being the biggest killer of people under the age of 35 and of men under 50, every 90 minutes somebody dies of suicide in the U.K. alone - this is simply a crisis. Mind is an incredible organisation that works to support those that may not be able to access other services, providing resources needed to deal with their problems no matter how overwhelming they may feel. They also campaign to make mental health a priority within Government and bring about all important long standing change we need to see.
