Driving Sustainability within the IT Industry

About us

GreenTech | Driving Sustainability within the IT Industry We are suppliers of the world’s first BSI Kitemark, remanufactured, carbon neutral IT solutions, ranging from laptop devices, monitors & mobile phones to IT peripherals, infrastructure & office furniture. Our mission is to help organisations within their supply chain to transition their entire office estate into a sustainable workspace, driving decarbonisation to reduce their scope 3 carbon footprint. To provide a quick background, for every 1 remanufactured device purchased against brand new, there is a total saving of: 190,000 litres of water 1,200kg of resources 316kg of CO2 prevented from manufacturing 600kg of sequestered carbon emissions 0% e-waste generated 5 trees planted and; a 40% cost saving. Now multiply these numbers by let’s say for example just X25 Employees - the impact generated is huge... We are at the forefront of driving circularity within an industry that has always adopted a linear approach. E-waste is the fastest growing waste stream in the UK & around the world & we are continuing our work in diverting as much waste as we possibly can away from landfill & reducing the demand for new resources. Founder @ GreenTech | Driving Sustainable Procurement | Helping Organisations transition their entire office into a Sustainable Workspace

And that’s a wrap for 2023! To be perfectly honest, I’ve been really thinking about what to write on this post as I recap on what has been without a doubt the most challenging yet rewarding year of my life. In January I embarked on the journey of going on my own & founding GreenTech and what an experience it has been. Being a Founder, I’ve found that days can be very lonely, extremely stressful & a real rollercoaster of a journey, going from a comfortable monthly wage to diving into the deep end and building something entirely from scratch. These past 12 months have certainly given me some real highs, coupled with some real lows, but when you look back and see what you’ve achieved in such a short space of time, it’s nice to see how far you’ve come. What I can almost definitely say is that I’ve met some of the most incredible people and have had the opportunity to work & onboard with a huge variety of organisations, as well as rub shoulders with the largest insurance company in the world. A few other key highlights from 2023: 💻 Building our sustainable product portfolio from just 12 items to over 145 ♻️ Helping 10+ organisations transition their entire office into a sustainable workspace 🎤 Pitched live at multiple events 🤝 Attended over 35 sustainability/networking events 🏭 Saved over 158,000kg of CO2 emissions 📱 Generated 0% E-Waste through our processes Away from work, the biggest highlight was certainly running the London Marathon & raising over £2.5k for Children with Cancer - an experience I will never forget 🏃🏻 It’s been a year of learning, adapting, overcoming & striding forward & here is to a big 2024! A huge huge thank you to: Jenny Jane Haynes Stephen Haskew Gareth Banks Elizabeth Corse Juliette Devillard Satyen Fakey Leo Lightfoot Max Lightfoot-Brown Lightfoot Agency Victoria Chater-Lea Alexander Lewis-Jones Mary Cole Cláudia Ghartey Johanna Andersson And of course to our amazing clients who we get to work with day in and day out. 2024 is one I’m extremely looking forward to, with so much planned & so many projects to kickstart - our most exciting being “Bridging the Technology Divide” which I can’t wait to get stuck into (more info to follow soon). We set on a mission 12 months ago to make a positive impact, even if that meant impacting just one organisation & shifting their mindset when it comes to procurement. In an industry which is so stubbornly linear (thanks again Gareth Banks) I can really say we are driving a decarbonised future & encouraging circularity as much as we possibly can. #GreenTech

    Head of Sustainability at Orangebox

5 months on & I’ve now given my remanufactured laptop from Circular Computing a thorough road test, and my verdict …. Clearly, second-life does not mean second-best! Great performance, every day so far, but with a fraction of the environmental impact of purchasing new (and cheaper too of course).
