⚡ On this day, 193 years ago, renowned British Physicist Michael Faraday is credited with discovering Electromagnetic Induction. ⚡ Electromagnetic induction is the phenomenon by which a change in magnetic field causes, or induces, a current flow in a wire present in the field. In his first experimental demonstration on 29th August 1831, Faraday wrapped two coils of wire around opposite sides of a ring of soft iron. He then connected one coil to a battery and the second was extended to a compass over 1m away, to ensure that it was not directly affect by current in the first circuit. When the first circuit was switched on, Faraday noted a momentary deflection of the compass needle before it returned to its starting position. Likewise, when he switched the first circuit off, the needle again deflected, but in the opposite direction. Faraday surmised that the current flowing through the first circuit magnetised the iron core. When the first circuit is switched on or off, the magnetic field of the core is changed, inducing a current in the secondary coil. It is this induced current, and its associated magnetic field, that causes the instantaneous deflection in the compass needle.   Furthermore, he was able to demonstrate that an electric current can be induced by a moving magnet, by turning an electromagnet on and off, and even by moving an electric wire in Earth’s magnetic field, he was even able to build a primitive electric generator. Faraday’s discovery of electromagnetic induction has laid the foundations for many modern technologies, such as the electric motor, electric generator, electric transformer, and more! Thank you, Michael Faraday! #Electric #History #Farady

Despite societies recent attempts to break the stigma around Male Mental Health Issues, the statistics are still truly worrying. -77% of men have suffered with symptoms of common mental health conditions such as anxiety, stress, or depression. -40% of men have never spoken to anyone about their mental health. -29% of those say they are "too embarrassed" to speak about it, while 20% say there is a "negative stigma" on the issue. -40% of men in a recent poll said it would take thoughts of suicide or self-harm to compel them to get professional help (Priory, 2024) It’s time to break this stigma and open the conversation.
