Giving What We Can is a community of effective givers. We inspire people to give more, and give more effectively.
About us
GWWC is a community of effective givers. We’re on a mission to make giving effectively and significantly a cultural norm. Home of the 🔸10% Pledge. We help donors to find the world’s most pressing problems and identify the best charities working to solve them. We’re best known for the 10% Pledge. Over 8,000 people people have pledged to give 10% of their lifetime income to the most effective charities. Together we’ve already given over 250 million dollars and pledged over 3 billion. We all have incredible opportunity to improve the world through charitable giving. Together, we can make the world much better for all its inhabitants, and for the generations to come. -- Giving What We Can is an Effective Ventures project. Effective Ventures Foundation (UK) (EV UK) is a charity in England and Wales (with registered charity number 1149828, registered company number 07962181, and is also a Netherlands registered tax-deductible entity ANBI 825776867). Effective Ventures Foundation USA Inc. (EV US) is a section 501(c)(3) organization in the USA (EIN 47-1988398). EV UK and EV US are separate charities that collaborate closely under the “Effective Ventures” name.

The 🔸10% Pledge is a public commitment to give at least 10% of income to the organisations that can most effectively use it to improve the lives of others. Your choice of where to donate can lead to significant differences in impact. Some charities can easily do 100 times more good with your dollar than others. Taking the 10% Pledge with Giving What We Can ensures your donations go directly to these charities, so you can help solve some of the world’s most pressing problems. We’re spreading a culture of giving generously and effectively. Almost 10,000 people have taken the pledge so far. What motivates them? We selected some recent pledge motivations they shared with us 👉 #effectivegiving #givingwhatwecan #philanthropy Thank you for sharing, Katarina H., Rebecca Cutter 🔸

We are grateful to have you as part of our community, Rebecca Cutter 🔸 Congratulations and thank you for taking the pledge and potentially multiplying your impact significantly by sharing about your choice to pledge publicly! 🧡
As awkward as this feels, I've decided that the benefits outweigh the skin-crawling discomfort of publicly talking about money - and in particular, philanthropy. I'm therefore pleased to share that Fit for Purpose WA, and I (for we're one and the same at the moment), have taken the 🔸10% Pledge to donate 10% of lifetime income to effective charities. I've written a brief article (also a first for me) to explain a bit more, and it contains links if you want to find out more (and maybe join me!). Giving What We Can
