This month is #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth. Our team is swapping Ginger for Pink when we take part in ‘Wear It Pink Day’ on 17th October in support of Breast Cancer Now. This year’s fundraising efforts are particularly poignant as our dear friend and colleague, Jade Page, underwent treatment for breast cancer this past year. If you wish to donate and support the charity’s world-class research into prevention, early detection and treatments, visit our GoFundMe page – with all proceeds going straight to Breast Cancer Now. 👉 https://lnkd.in/epSFeBeE
I never thought I’d be writing about my boobs on LinkedIn but Breast Cancer Awareness Month seems as good a time as any. I took this picture on November 6th 2023, the day before my world changed forever and at the age of 34, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Fast forward to 2 surgeries, fertility preservation, 8 rounds of chemotherapy, and 20 rounds of radiotherapy, I’m a 27mm lump and 14 lymph nodes down. It’s been a lot. Thank you to Victoria Usher and all at GingerMay for being the best cheerleaders, for allowing me the time I needed to recover, the opportunity to work when I could without expectation, and no explanation needed when I couldn’t. The support and compassion have been second to none. Not to mention my friends and family who have been with me at every step. I haven’t fully been away but as the appointments get fewer and farther between, I can’t wait to get back to doing what I love. 🧡 As we enter Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I urge everyone to be vigilant. Cancer doesn’t discriminate. Monthly checks and early detection are key to fighting this awful disease. #breastcancer #breastcancerunder40
