No one should have to live in fuel crisis. Let's make a change.
About us
Over the past 5 years the Fuel Bank Foundation has supported hundreds of thousands of people across Great Britain. We work with customers of all GB energy suppliers, providing emergency heat and light to families on prepayment plans or who prepay for their energy. We’re there when their gas and electricity meters have run out of credit, and the lights go out and the pilot light is extinguished. Citizens Advice report that 140k households annually cannot afford to top up their meter and this will only increase with COVID-19. Now more than ever, the work that Fuel Bank Foundation does is vital: providing same day support to households in crisis, ensuring that their voices are heard by policymakers, and working towards a world where people don’t have to choose between heating and eating. The worry and anxiety of not having the money to pay for gas and electricity and therefore living in fuel crisis can both cause and contribute to mental health conditions. The knock-on effect can also be detrimental to the mental and physical wellbeing of children and young people. This is why, as a charity dedicated to helping people lift themselves out of fuel poverty, we're supporting World Mental Health Day. #WMHD24

Miatta Fahnbulleh, MP for Peckham and Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Energy Consumers at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (ESNZ), recently visited one of our Fuel Bank Centres in South London to discuss the issues faced by people living in fuel crisis. During the visit, we heard first-hand how fuel poverty and fuel crisis is ‘becoming the norm’ and accepted by people who feel like they have no way out. We also heard examples of people regularly going without because they can’t afford to top up their prepayment energy meter, such as those who live on cold sandwiches because they don’t have the means to cook a meal or pensioners who are isolated and cold but are too proud to admit they need help. Sadly, these examples aren't unique to Peckham. Fuel Bank Foundation reposted this
Going live in ten… So this last week has been largely spent telling the story of what an increase in energy prices - especially for those who prepay - means for families across the country as we approach winter. Thanks for having me BBC News and ITV and looking forward to continuing the conversation in the coming weeks.

The worry and anguish of not having the money to pay for gas and electricity can both cause and exacerbate mental health conditions. But for people who are mentally ill, accessing the help and support they need can be difficult. Thanks to our new partnership with Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Fuel Bank we will be able to support more people living with mental health issues. #MentalHealth #NHS #FuelPoverty #Charity #Partnerships

As a Fuel Bank partner, CWP will be able to apply for emergency fuel voucher support from Fuel Bank Foundation on behalf of local people who are living without access to heat, light and power. It was a night to remember but sadly it wasn't to be for Fuel Bank Foundation at the Charity Times Awards. We were up against tough competition from some amazing charities, including Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity and Comic Relief, and to share a stage with giants of the charity sector such as these was an honour in itself. Congratulations to GOSHC on its very worthy win. Matthew Cole, head of Fuel Bank Foundation, said: "I am so proud that after a few short years we are standing alongside the likes of Comic Relief and Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity and being recognised for the work we do. "What we have achieved together is amazing and despite not getting the award this time we should be extremely proud with where we have got to." Back stronger next year! 💪 Charity Times #CharityTimesAwards #Charity #FuelPoverty
