The world's responses to escalating social and environmental crises have for too long fallen short of what's urgently needed: transformational change. Against this backdrop, it's hard to hope that a better future lies ahead. But look a little deeper... 'Bright Spots' are emerging - people and / or organisations who are fundamentally reimagining how we live and work, with game-changing potential to create a future in which both people and the planet thrive. These initiatives are daring to break new ground in how we produce and consume food and energy, and in how and why businesses operate. They are embracing the bold steps needed for transformational change - and there are lessons for us all. That's why Forum's latest Future of Sustainability campaign, Reimagining the Way the World Works, is putting them centre stage. In partnership with The Earthshot Prize, Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors and Trane Technologies, we're set to showcase and celebrate 30 Bright Spots showing us that transformational change is not only possible, but already happening... Leading international sustainability organisation working with business, government & civil society to solve challenges
About us
Forum for the Future is a leading international sustainability organisation running out of offices in the UK, US, India and Singapore. Since we were founded in 1996, we’ve been working in partnership with business, governments and civil society to accelerate the shift towards a just and regenerative future in which both people and the planet thrive. Climate change, mounting inequality, nature in crisis: the world is facing complex challenges that are intensifying every single day. And while people and organisations are responding, we continue to fall short in transforming the unsustainable ways by which we live and work. That’s why Forum is focused on enabling systemic and urgent action in three potentially game-changing areas. We’re in the business of change - what it means, how to do it, and how to make it last, and are setting our sights on transforming how people and organisations think about, produce, consume and value both food and energy, and on reimagining the purpose of business in our society and economy. Just imagine these three transitions moving at pace and on track to stabilise our climate, restore our natural ecosystems and reverse inequality. It’s an inspiring vision; one we’re working towards with our partners through multi-stakeholder collaborations, one-to-one work and coaching. We also bring a unique blend of futures and systems change thinking to stretch the ambition of our partners as together, we reinvent the way the world works.

With some 40% of India’s solar farms located on agricultural land, fears abound that the explosion of the solar energy sector could threaten food production and rural livelihoods. But what if solar energy could be generated on land that continues to be used for agricultural production? Agrivoltaics, or APVs, are swiftly emerging as decentralised solar energy systems that do just this, with farming practiced either beneath and/or between solar panels. The potential for renewable energy to be generated at pace, while offering farmers new opportunities to diversify their income, is huge. Read about the opportunities of agrivoltaics in this in-depth article for India Development Review (IDR) by Shirish Garud and Hemakshi Malik, partners of Responsible Energy Initiative India: https://ow.ly/5sT850UB3hG Find out more about REI India: https://ow.ly/TW5P50UB3hF #SolarEnergy #Agrivoltaics #India
