⚖️ Supporting the future of law and empowering communities! At Fieldfisher we're proud of our pro bono collaboration with City Community Legal Advice Centre (CityCLAC), a community-based legal advice clinic affiliated with City Law School. This partnership plays a pivotal role in our mission to support and empower disabled people through legal interventions. Since the beginning of this year, our volunteers have been attending CityCLAC-run clinics, expanding our efforts to help people apply for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) to complete the application to the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP). The clinic ensures people get assistance in completing the application ensuring an individual is more likely to be successful on first application, avoiding the long and stressful process of appeals and tribunals. The help provided through these clinics ensures disabled people can manage their extra living costs, which can exceed £1,000 per month. Recently, our partnership led to an exciting opportunity for two City Law School interns to gain hands-on experience at Fieldfisher. Welcomed by our Head of Just Purpose, Millie Hawes, they shadowed our lawyers, participated in soft skills workshops, and learned invaluable lessons on CV writing and navigating the legal profession. We're gearing up for the new academic year, with an upcoming training session for students from City Law School and our London-based volunteer lawyers. This will be followed by a speed networking event, offering students more opportunities to connect and grow.
