The Great British Energy Bill is in Parliament today 📜 Through Great British Energy and Local Power Plan, we will help more communities to generate local clean power - bringing benefits such as supporting good, skilled jobs 👷 The community on the Isle of Eigg in Scotland use solar, wind and hydro to generate their own power independently of the mainland grid. Learn more about Isle of Eigg and benefits of local energy projects from Energy Minister Michael Shanks 👇

We’re excited to have won two offshore wind contracts today in today’s #AR6 Contracts for Difference auction 🍃 The contracts will deliver more than 1,000MW of clean, green electricity – enough to power the equivalent of more than one million homes. Keith Anderson, ScottishPower CEO said: “Offshore wind is back on track after last year’s misstep which is great news for consumers. The only solution to weaning the UK off volatile fossil fuels which are the root cause of increasing bills is more clean, green energy.”

🌊 RWE Marks Major Milestone in Offshore Wind with Installation of HVDC Offshore Converter Platform at Sofia Wind Farm! 🌊 We are thrilled to announce a key achievement at our Sofia Offshore Wind Farm with the successful installation of the Offshore Converter Platform (OCP)—our first deployment of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) technology. 🚢 The installation, the largest lift in offshore wind history, is a testament to the incredible collaboration between RWE and its partners GE Vernova, and Seatrium. This cutting-edge technology will enable efficient transmission of the wind farm's electrical output across a 220km cable route to shore. 💡 Sofia, RWE’s largest offshore wind project under construction in UK waters, will have a total capacity of 1.4 GW—enough to power approximately 1.2 million UK homes. Once fully operational in 2026, it will be a significant driver of the UK's renewable energy transition.

Sellafield plays an important role in keeping nuclear power stations operating. It’s home to the oldest nuclear facilities in the UK and focuses on aspects such as creating quality waste products as well as repackaging special nuclear material among other things. Their mission is about taking the legacy of the past and building capability for a clean and safe environment for future generations. Last week, Lord Hunt visited the site to see the progress and meet local apprentices working there ⚛️👷

Minister for Climate Kerry McCarthy recently went to the Orkney Islands in Scotland, where she saw how emerging technologies are harnessing wind, waves and tidal currents to help the UK deliver more secure, homegrown energy. In Loch Ness, she witnessed how protecting and restoring our natural land plays an important role in combatting climate change and reducing emissions. AECOM EMEC: European Marine Energy Centre
