This year, we're thrilled to have Vattenfall Business Solutions UK support both primary and secondary schools through our programmes! In Midlothian and Granton earlier this year, Vattenfall helped bring our Generation Science tour to primary schools, sparking curiosity and excitement about science and energy. Now, they're continuing their amazing support by engaging with secondary students at Careers Hive, where we’ll inspire the next generation to explore careers in STEM, particularly in energy and sustainability. We're thrilled to have Vattenfall and their colleagues help us inspire secondary students at Careers Hive next week. With Vattenfall’s support at Careers Hive, we’re able to inspire young minds and open their eyes to renewable energy, heating, and STEM careers. This is done through a hands-on activity where students will engage in the Cosy Cosy House workshop, where they'll insulate model houses using various materials and test their effectiveness using an IR camera. 🔬🏠 We're grateful for Vattenfall's support in helping us educate students in energy and the environment across Careers Hive, Generation Science, and our Edinburgh Science Festival. Together, we’re shaping the next generation of problem solvers in energy and sustainability! 🚀
Edinburgh Science have created this video to showcase their generation science shows and workshops that tour schools across Scotland. Vattenfall Business Solutions UK are supporting this activity and in this video I explain the principal reasons why we are doing this: 1. to engage young people in their early education inspiring a love of science; 2. to share information on heat networks with young people, in the communities that we are working with, on the journey towards fossil freedom; and 3. to allow colleagues to engage in and enjoy that fact that we are achieving the above objectives in a fun and creative way. We also support the Science Festival that takes place every Easter and Careers Hive which brings science careers to 14-15 year old pupils. Thanks Edinburgh Science and keep creating amazing science experiences and helping young people see a better future! 🔭

We are excited to welcome Hitachi Energy and their colleagues at Careers Hive 2024! Their partnership has guaranteed students the opportunity to learn about energy and the environment through our Generating Power activity. In this hands-on activity, students use a hand generator to create electricity and explore how different numbers of magnets or wire coils effects output. Hitachi Energy colleagues are volunteering their time across a few of the days to support students through this activity while educating them about careers in renewable energy. We thank you for your time and support for Careers Hive 2024.
Hitachi Energy is excited to participate in the Edinburgh Science Careers Hive! Careers Hive is a unique science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) careers event. Our volunteers will take part in week-long activities at the National Museum of Scotland, from 28 October to 2 November, engaging with up to 3,500 young people aged 11-14 to highlight the variety of careers available in STEM areas. Together, we are inspiring the next generation of engineers, scientists, medics, coders, makers and thinkers! 🚀🔬💡 Read more about the event here: https://lnkd.in/g9EjXbjn #HitachiEnergyUK #renewableenergy #NextGeneration #CareersHive #ShapeTomorrowToday

🐮🐄 She has arrived! 🐄🐮 Meet the newest member of the Edinburgh Science team, Elsie our life-size Ayrshire dairy cow! 🥛 Elsie will be helping STEM professionals inspire Scotland’s young people at our Careers Hive event from 28 October to 2 November as part of our Future Farming activity, funded by Royal Academy of Engineering Ingenious scheme #RAEngIngenious. Future Farming has been designed in collaboration with food sector engineering experts to showcase engineering innovations that are improving sustainability, efficiency and livestock welfare in agriculture and aquaculture. Many of these fascinating innovations are ‘making the invisible visible’ to farmers and food producers through data. These are just some examples of the amazing opportunities that engineering careers in this sector can provide. We’re very grateful to collaborating experts Dr Cynthia Naydani of University of Edinburgh, Dave Scott of Intelligent Growth Systems, Dr Kenneth Loades of James Hutton Institute and SEFARI, Chris Jones, Director of Norfab Equipment Ltd, Dr Susannah Bolton of SRUC and farming technology specialist Ross Robertson for sharing their time and career insights with us.
