In an exciting development for our Porth Wen Solar Farm on Anglesey, we have appointed Menter Môn Ltd as the fund administrators for the Porth Wen community benefit fund. They'll be responsible for recruiting a volunteer panel of local representatives to determine the criteria for awarding funds and how the fund is set up. Our Porth Wen Solar Farm will invest £20,000 per year over its lifetime into the community benefit fund. Local groups and projects in the Cemaes and Amlwch area will be able to apply for grants. Funding has also been ringfenced for two local schools. Anybody interested in volunteering or finding out more about the fund, should go to https://lnkd.in/e2AB7k-F Pictured (left-right) are Erin Thomas and Dafydd Gruffydd from Menter Môn, with Lewis Gray and Kerry MacPhee from EDF Renewables UK. #AcceleratingCleanEnergy #Sustainability #Communities #CommunityBenefitFund
About us
EDF Renewables is part of one of the world’s leading renewable energy companies in the UK. With our portfolio of 42 sites across the UK, including onshore, offshore, battery and solar, we are providing some of the much needed new affordable, low carbon electricity the UK needs. EDF Renewables UK has more than 14 GW of renewables projects in planning and development. We look after the operations and maintenance of our own wind farms. Customers need new low carbon electricity to be affordable – our innovation is driving costs down, for example our Blyth Offshore Demonstrator Project which has used float and submerge technology on the foundations, 66 kV electrical connection cables and 8.3MW turbines – all firsts in offshore wind. We are also looking at the future of onshore wind using the most modern and efficient turbines to make this technology as low cost as possible. The basis of our success is our people. We have an engaged, enthusiastic and dedicated team in an organisation that encourages agile, flexible and dynamic working. The willingness of the team to pull together to meet challenges is the source of our momentum. Whether you're working in the operational environment on site, or in one of our support functions in an office, we value the contribution each person makes. Every year we run a apprenticeship and graduate schemes to provide unique opportunities for people to get a foot into the renewable energy career ladder. For all careers opportunities and enquiries, please visit our careers page - www.edf-re.uk/careers We pride ourselves on working closely with local communities throughout the projects, from the early stages right the way through to development, construction, operation and beyond. It's Zero Harm Week, so across EDF Renewables UK & Ireland, we've been discussing why zero harm matters and what steps we're taking to support a zero harm culture. Here's Suzanne Flockhart, our Head of Development and Delivery for Offshore and Ireland, talking about 'the power of small'; the importance of mental health and wellbeing; and the responsibility we all have to lead by example. #ZeroHarmWeek #AcceleratingCleanEnergy #HSE #SafetyCulture

We were at the Plaid Cymru 2024 Annual Conference this weekend in Cardiff. Osian Roberts and Ffion Davies from EDF Renewables UK met with various Plaid Cymru representatives, including Delyth Jewell MS, current Deputy Leader of Plaid Cymru and their Spokesperson for Climate Change. We also attended the RenewableUK Cymru roundtable on Saturday on the topic 'How will a Plaid Cymru Government deliver a step change in renewable energy generation in Wales?'. There was a good discussion on practical solutions to help Wales to reach its 2030 targets, as well as a focus on shovel-ready onshore wind projects, a proven technology that can be deployed quickly. Pictured are Delyth Jewell MS and Ffion Davies; Abi Beck and Jessica Hooper from RenewableUK Cymru with Ffion; Rhun ap Iorwerth MS and Leader of Plaid Cymru speaking at Friday night's Conference Dinner; and members of the panel discussion on Saturday. #AcceleratingCleanEnergy #RenewableEnergy #WalesClimateTargets

We've had a busy few days this week at the second stage of public consultation for our proposed Correen Hills wind farm with Force 9 Energy, in Aberdeenshire. The two community events took place on 8-9 October in Clatt and Alford. Both were very busy, and it was good to see so many local residents and businesses come along to learn more about the project. Following feedback from the public during our first round of consultation, we've reduced the number of turbines on the site by nearly a third and have introduced some new community measures. The virtual exhibition is still open for anybody who wants to view the revised plans: https://ow.ly/nutR50TJOj8 Jamie Hunter #AcceleratingCleanEnergy #OnshoreWind #ScotlandClimateTargets #Sustainability

Members of our offshore wind team have been at Floating Offshore Wind 2024 in Aberdeen the past couple of days. Yesterday Claire Melrose (Gilchrist) met with industry newcomers at the Networking Breakfast Briefing in her role as Vice Chair on the Renewable UK Shadow Board, and we've been having lots of very productive conversations with attendees at this year's event. Also pictured is Sebastien TESSIER, EPCI Director for EDF Renouvelables’ Provence Grand Large Project. He spoke at this morning's session on 'Financing the future: Investment and cost reduction in floating offshore wind', in which there were lots of interesting discussions on technology readiness levels and investment in floating projects. Thanks to RenewableUK and Scottish Renewables for hosting another fantastic event.
