During Move 5 we are sharing the stories and fundraising challenges of some of our fundraising stars Today it's Reagan and Kellyanne: "Reagan struggles a lot with his skin,” says his Mum, Kellyanne. “He has regular flare-ups when his skin gets very inflamed and itchy and he can’t help but scratch until he bleeds. [...] He is really determined and just gets on with it, but it is hard to see him suffer. You just feel helpless to see your child in pain and not be able to stop it." Reagan is a huge fundraising star for EOS, having raised money for Move 5 before. He says: "I know how hard it is to have eczema, so I am doing Move 5 so I can help the charity help more kids with eczema.” He is walking 5 miles from October 1-10 and hopes to raise more than ever. During Move 5 we will be sharing the stories and fundraising challenges of some of our fundraising stars ⭐ Today it's Rachel and Harry: "When Harry was just weeks old, his skin had a bad rash. His eyes all puffed up and he looked painful [...] eventually he was diagnosed with eczema." – Harry’s Mum, Rachel. Rachel was at her wits’ end trying to access help when she discovered EOS, who gave her the support she so desperately needed. Now Rachel is walking 5km every day of Move 5 to fundraise for EOS, to help other children and families with eczema. Eczema Outreach Support reposted this
Today Cattie, Chair of the Eczema Outreach Support Youth Panel shared her story of living with eczema at the BRITISH DERMATOLOGICAL NURSING GROUP Annual Meeting as part of the Listened Study. I always learn something new from Cattie and today was no different. She challenged us to think about the words self management in eczema and how we use them. Eczema is something that has to be managed but it shouldn't have to be managed alone. We need to keep asking young people with the condition what they want and need so they can stay in control, but also make sure that they know they don't have to go through it all on their own. Thank you Teena Mackenzie for all of the thought provoking questions at the session and for always being so supportive of our panel members.
