NEW blog post: A Digital Science study of conflict of interest statements highlights the need for a more careful appraisal of published research. The study, led by Pritha Sarkar, has uncovered a tangled web of missing statements, errors, and subterfuge. Pritha's work utilized Dimensions and the Retraction Watch database, and was presented as a poster at this year's World Conference on Research Integrity. Simon Linacre takes us through the research's key findings and their implications. 🔗 Read the post now: https://ow.ly/wfzY50TgvhQ World Conf Research Integrity #ResearchIntegrity #TrustInScience #AcademicIntegrity #ConflictOfInterest

📢 NEWS: Digital Science is pleased to play a key role in a new report, “Transparency and Integrity Risks in China’s Research Ecosystem: A Primer and Call to Action.” 🔗 See the new report at the Center for Research Security & Integrity website: https://ow.ly/Zl4L50TecyZ Co-authored by the center’s Founder and President, Jeff Stoff, with Dr Leslie McIntosh (Vice President of Research Integrity, Digital Science) and An Chi Lee (Director of Research Security, Toronto Metropolitan University), the report catalogs “problematic transparency and integrity practices” of research entities and provides several case studies. Data from Dimensions has been used throughout. It also offers recommendations for governments and organizations to help improve transparency and integrity. In his LinkedIn post announcing the report, Jeff Stoff said: “While issues relating to research or knowledge security are gaining increasing attention around the world, integrity concerns are not getting sufficient scrutiny. I hope our publication can help change that.” The report includes a foreword by Glenn Tiffert (Distinguished Research Fellow, The Hoover Institution, Stanford University). #ResearchIntegrity #ResearchSecurity #AcademicIntegrity #ScholarlyPublishing #ethics #scicomm #scholcomm #MindTheTrustGap

Digital Science is proud to be sponsoring The Diversity in Research Podcast with Jakob Feldtfos Christensen and Lachlan Stephen-Smith, hosted by DIVERSIuniTY. See some of the previous episodes in this series: https://lnkd.in/e5gPHcBi
All things research management, diversity, internationalisation, research funding, research strategy and management support.
”The Diversity in Research Podcast” is – almost – back! September 10th, Lachlan Stephen-Smith and I are happy to kick off season 9 of "The Diversity in Research Podcast". Can you believe it? And we are particularly proud to tell you all that we have teamed up with Digital Science as the presenting sponsor for this season. We have been looking for sponsors for a while, but we agreed from the beginning that we would rather have no sponsor than the wrong sponsor. No coffee, mattress or underwear companies sponsoring us. And then along came Digital Science. Digital Science is a world leader in AI-driven tech solutions that empower researchers, universities, and organisations across the research ecosystem. On the podcast, we have often talked about how digital solutions can help diversity and make the world smaller. It’s no secret that we also have our concerns, but our motto is that we’re ambitious in goals but pragmatic in approach. We want to be in the machine room, have conversations, make things work and make sure that diversity and culture are integrated in all parts of the research ecosystem. That’s why we are happy to build on this partnership with Digital Science. The podcast will still be about diversity and internationalisation in research and research management. It will still be Lachlan Stephen-Smith and me having conversations. And we have some great guests and themes lined up for the next season. Before we kick off – are you up to date on the podcast? Or did you forget to listen to an episode or two while at the beach during your holidays? Every day until the season 9 kick-off we’ll feature an episode of last season to help you get up to date on health data, accessibility, AI, career development and many other topics.
