    We saved our client over 45% in damages (and even more on potential costs!) in a workplace injury claim, and here’s how we did it ⬇️   In this case, the claimant injured their back while moving furniture without a manual handling risk assessment and proper training. Despite the initial valuation of over £32,000, we lifted the load from our client by challenging the value of the claim and highlighting key factors, such as the fact the claimant was over 70 years old and failed to mitigate their losses.   After intense negotiations and a well-pitched Calderbank offer, our strategy paid off as the case was settled for less than 45% of the initial claim.     Earlier this month, our research and forensics team were awarded “Highly Commended” at the Claims and Fraud awards for their groundbreaking research into the roadworthiness of mopeds!   The research proved that mopeds can in fact sustain greater impact than previously thought before being declared unroadworthy; meaning insurers don’t have to pay out thousands in false claims, and honest customers don’t have to experience such drastic increases to insurance premiums.   We are so honoured to have received this prize as it highlights what our forensics team is all about: improving knowledge with a research-based and reasoned approach.     We recently handled a personal injury claim, taking our client from a £1 million reserve – to a £0 payout.   The claimant sustained some injuries at their workplace and alleged they could no longer work, claiming over £250,000. However, our surveillance of the claimant and their social media revealed they were more active than they let on, even going as far as playing bingo and working as a bus driver.     Close collaboration with the wider insurance industry is vital when tackling organised fraud. Which makes it particularly rewarding to win 'Combatting Fraud – Collaboration of the Year' with LV= General Insurance at last night’s Insurance Post Claims and Fraud Awards. The winning entry was a successful partnership across a unique multifaceted investigation and sting operation, which resulted in a nationwide collaboration to take down an organised criminal network orchestrating dangerous fake collisions. Well done to all involved with this innovative, and now award-winning, counter-fraud initiative! Congratulations also go to our credit hire team who were highly commended in the 'Insurance Legal Team of the Year' category.
