About us

Marginalisation and inequality are growing across the UK; consequently some of the most high-potential students are not entering some of the best-paid and most exciting careers paths. The Classroom to Boardroom Foundation works directly with students, schools, and businesses to overcome career barriers that are very often related to economic disadvantage. Our programmes are developed with a student's potential and career capability front-of-mind. We support secondary and post-16 students, who are at a key inflection point in their lives - typically when they first seriously consider their options for future careers. In partnership with our extensive school network we run skills workshops, work experience placements and apprenticeship programmes. In doing so, we support students to develop their employability skills and connect our students and alumni to our global network of clients. There are many exciting ways in which you can support the Classroom to Boardroom Foundation. Speak with Mathilda Johnston-Jones today at [email protected] to learn about how you can get started.

Last week, we hosted our annual Investing Potential programme, a three-day work experience event where students get the opportunity to develop their soft skills and gain insights into the world of private debt. The programme culminated with a networking breakfast where our attendees had the opportunity to connect with alumni from previous years and representatives from our partnering firms. During the event, we were joined by Thanojan Sivananthan, a 2022 Investing Potential attendee, who discussed his experience and how it contributed towards his success and standing out from the crowd when applying for apprenticeships. This is our fourth year of hosting this programme, and our largest one yet, with seven credit asset managers partnering with us to deliver this exceptional experience. We'd like to extend a special thank you to these firms, alongside all of the students for attending - we thoroughly enjoyed hosting this event and meeting everyone, and look forward to it again next year! Last week in celebrations of International Women's Day, Samah Shahed and Blanca Durántez Ibarrola from Dartmouth Partners attended one of our Classroom to Boardroom Foundation school partners, Marylebone Boys School and Sixth Form. The team at Marylebone hosted a wonderful event for their growing female student population centred around this year's theme of Inspire Inclusion. Samah and Blanca, along with several other professional women, shared their personal experiences of the workplace and their career path so far with prospective and current students at the school. With a lively Q&A following! If you would like to support schools across the country with career insights days, contact Mathilda Johnston-Jones to find out how your company can be involved by supporting education and employment opportunities to some of the amazing students we have been meeting! #inspireinclusion #iwd #diversity

  • Last week was an exciting week for the Classroom to Boardroom Foundation as we launched our Professional Pathways series with two interactive industry days. We had over 200 students and 10 sponsoring funds joining us for full-day events, where attendees had the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge from investment professionals within the Private Credit and Private Markets sectors. Our 2024 Gen Z report has identified that 86% of respondents are more likely to consider a career in their desired field if they had been better educated on career opportunities at school, which is why events like these are such huge value and purposeful to those who attend. Mathilda Johnston-Jones discusses in greater detail the value of the Professional Pathways series and the positive impact they have made so far: https://bit.ly/48LaV71 If your business is interested in making a difference and driving diversity, then reach out to Mathilda Johnston-Jones to find out how. • Last week was an exceptionally busy and successful week for the Classroom to Boardroom Foundation! On Thursday, we hosted over 100 students for the second in our Professional Pathways series, this time with the lens of a career in Private Equity. The event was to provide students with introductory information about the Private Equity sector, as well as the opportunity for attendees to start building their professional network by meeting individuals in from the sector. Over the day, the students took part in workshops and role-played working scenarios, and heard first-hand from investment professionals about their career journeys to date, their experiences, and tips to help get the best start to their careers. We'd like to extend a huge thank you to our excellent event sponsors and speakers from Advent International, CVC Capital Partners, General Atlantic, Hg, and PSP Investments. If you would like to know how your business can be involved with the Professional Pathways series, or the Foundation's other social mobility opportunities, contact Mathilda Johnston-Jones directly or email [email protected] to set up a call. #professionalpathways #studentevent #socialmobility

  • An exciting week for the Classroom to Boardroom Foundation as we kicked off the first event of our 'Professional Pathway' series! The purpose of this event is to provide school students with insights on what a career in Private Credit can look like for them alongside networks created and insights shared firsthand by those already working within the sector. Yesterday, in partnership with leading Private Credit firms, we hosted a full house of students from across the UK, all keen to find out more about what a career in Private Credit can offer them. Attendees listened to insights from and workshopped with our excellent speakers throughout the day, having the opportunity to ask them questions and start building their future network. A big thank you to our sponsoring firms, Arcmont Asset Management, Ares Management Corporation, CVC Capital Partners, Oak Hill Advisors, L.P. and Park Square Capital. Our next event is taking place tomorrow with our Private Equity sponsors and we are looking forward to spending the day with more ambitious young people. If you'd like to find out more about how you can be involved with the Foundation and support young people to break into exciting careers in finance, reach out to Mathilda Johnston-Jones or email us at [email protected].
