We spend time working with you to understand your individual business objectives, people challenges and future ambition. We identify areas of pain, look at where you are now and identify key goals to achieve your ambition. STEP 2️⃣: Plan! We work together on developing an action plan. This may involve one of our consultants meeting your managers and understanding their challenges, it may be designing a survey for your employees to gauge current engagement, or maybe working with a key focus group from the business.     The Right to Switch Off. Many countries including Australia, the Republic of Ireland, Belgium and Argentina have formally introduced the “right to disconnect” from work. Whilst the specific details will vary from country to country, the idea is that employees have some protection from being punished by their employers if they do not answer calls or emails, outside of their working hours. This subject is now back on the agenda in the UK too - https://lnkd.in/eZuuKd5m As the world of work continues to evolve, it speaks volumes about the way some employers treat their workers, that there is a perceived requirement to introduce such protection in law. A UK contract of employment must contain details of working hours. As such it should be clear when an employee is meant to be available for work. The huge increase in remote and hybrid working, where many employees have been provided with equipment by their employer, has given rise to the feeling, whether real or otherwise, that employees should always be available for their employer. Apart from this potentially breaching the terms of their contract of employment, it is counterproductive for any business owner or manager to want to burn out their employees in this way. Placing constant demands on people is a recipe for disaster. It is essential for people to get a break from work from both a wellbeing and productivity perspective. Of course, we’re not sure if the UK will introduce any such legislation. What we are sure of is that the workplace changes constantly. That can make it seem hard for business owners or managers to know what to do or how to act.     So Labour has already been in power now for more than 5 weeks (doesn't time fly!) As anticipated they have begun to share their plans for implementing their "new deal for working people" and have given us a flavour of what is to come. Highlights include: ✴️ Unfair dismissal rights from Day 1 (with some provision to be set out around probationary periods) ✴️ Sick pay from the first day of absence and removing the lower earning limits ✴️ Making parental leave and sick pay a day one right ✴️ Ending "firing and rehiring" ✴️ Banning (in some capacity) zero hour contracts It is going to be a very interesting few months for employment law - in fact it is anticipated that this will be the biggest shake up in employment legislation since the 1970's. But don't worry, we're here to make sure you are covered.
