As the implementation of the EU HTA Joint Clinical Assessment (JCA) regulation in 2025 draws nearer, our teams across Value and Access and Evidence Generation have been reflecting on the challenges and opportunities the JCA brings to our industry clients. As part of our ongoing celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Global Health Internship programme, Kerris Chappell-Smith caught up with Cephas Ke-on AVOKA, who joined us a Global Health Intern from Ghana in 2020. Cephas conducted a systematic literature review of interventions to improve referral decision-making and feedback between health facilities for women seeking childbirth care in Sub-Saharan Africa. He has since become a Public Health Specialist and joined Jacaranda Health, where he works with the Ghana Health Service to adapt, deploy and scale an intervention supporting women through pregnancy in Ghana. We are excited to share Cephas’ journey in a short podcast episode, where he discusses his experience and the impact of the internship. Systematic literature reviews (SLRs) are often time-intensive, and often unnecessary. Under the right circumstances, targeted literature reviews (TLRs) are a valid alternative.
