Precision alignment makes for a highly efficient operation, but it is a human challenge . . . Whilst we are very concerned with the organisational construct of "process ownership" and the “GPO” and associated role definition, targets and reporting line, we put less focus into creating the right conditions, including the necessary skills, tactics and support, for the “end to end process” strategy to work. https://lnkd.in/dCnedwVH
About us
Consider Solutions provide thought leadership, analytics, technology integration and best practice insight on the journey towards ‘World Class Finance & Operations’. We serve global brands including BT, Bombardier, Sony Music, Starbucks and UNICEF. With a focus on finance and accounting and shared services / GBS, Consider advises on optimizing global end-to-end business processes, GBS operating models, business partnering, organization and roles, performance management, technology, managing risk and simplifying compliance. Consider Solutions was born out of a fundamental truth. While businesses are increasingly reliant on technology, the commercial agenda of tech vendors regularly drives them to add more features, more functions and more complexity. As a result, companies are drowning in technological sophistication, yet they are trying to simplify data insight and improve management visibility. We understand business in concept and in practice, and our executives have served in leadership positions in Fortune 500 companies themselves. We understand the challenges as well as the opportunities, the trade-offs and the nature of human behaviour in a global business context. Consider is unique in this space, culturally we are highly business focused. The proof of that is the ‘business outcome’ perspective we take on all the assignments we accept. This means that, by definition, we need to always take a pragmatic approach to addressing business issues, avoiding a dogmatic perspective on these challenges. We focus on innovation in multiple dimensions. We have deep experience of global processes, technology, human experience at scale, governance models, risk management, policies, controls and the Data to Insight to Action cycle. We approach the implementation of new processes and working practices with an understanding of human behaviour and barrier to adoption. www.consider.biz @Consider_ations [email protected]

“Silo-busting – The secrets to a successful merger” made me realise that there is a lot in common between a company merger and the shift to integrated “end to end” processes . . . The barriers to both successful mergers and successful “end to end process” integration are not primarily technical, financial, logistical or functional . . . They are human. Well, THAT’s a relief . . . . apparently, cursing, complaining and sarcasm are examples of authenticity, which we are encouraged to exhibit. Fascinating Harvard Business Review article by Ron Friedman, Ph.D. “5 Things High-Performing Teams Do Differently” (Hint: It’s not always about the work). https://lnkd.in/eh89hq-W

“Want better answers? Ask better questions” Apparently, Socrates did not think much of writing. Real understanding, he believed, requires face-to-face discussion, deeper thinking and questioning. “Anyone can borrow a scroll from the library, read it out loud and sound wise without having to go through the education required to actually be wise." Many Thanks to Bill Schmarzo for his post and inspiration . . . https://lnkd.in/eASHdN8V

No, not the mind altering ones . . A tantalisingly titled article by Preston Gralla got me thinking, worth a read for constructive advice as we are all GenAI users now. “Is Copilot for Microsoft 365 a lying liar?” LLM hallucinations are a lot more common than we might think and can be risky business, as you might end up with convincing sounding lies in your work! Preston provides three good recommendations to cut down on hallucinations, relevant to all GenAI tools and LLMs . . . https://lnkd.in/etyUWDan

Consider Solutions reposted this
Let’s stop calling them “soft skills” “Decision-making, eager participation, dancing with fear, speaking with authority, working in teams, seeing the truth, speaking the truth, inspiring others, doing more than we’re asked, caring and being willing to change things” Perceptive, charismatic, driven, focused, goal-setting, inspiring and motivated. Generous, empathic and consistent. A deep listener, with patience. We give too little respect to the other skills when we call them “soft” and imply that they’re optional. Let’s stop calling them soft. They’re interpersonal skills. Leadership skills. The skills of charisma and diligence and contribution. We also call these “consulting” or “sales” skills . . . . https://lnkd.in/eWtcbTg2 #skillsdevelopment #skillsforsuccess #keystosuccess #humancapital #leadershipdevelopment #businessexcellence #peopleandculture #trustedadvisor

Time . . . . People value time over everything . . . Which is why convenience and lack of friction win. And of course, Pink Floyd had a thing or two to say about it too . . . https://lnkd.in/eXPHXtQ9 https://lnkd.in/eg-nSkkb

Thoughtful AI in business (rather than consumer) discussion . .
Who are the "humans in the loop" for AI in business (not just accounting)? Good piece from Chris Gaetano "at some point a human needs to take responsibility and own whatever is the final output" . . . .
