📈 For many of us, Monday means production schedules, planning, quotes, order processing, invoicing, deliveries and much more. It’s a doing day, but does it include backing up your data? Because without your critical data, you can’t do any of those other Monday tasks. 💡So, with that sobering thought in mind, here’s our Hows and Whys of backing up your company data: 1.     Back up vital data regularly, ensuring these backups are recent and can be restored. You’re now enabling your business to continue operating in the aftermath of flood, fire, physical damage or theft. Crucially, data backups that you can quickly recover, mean you can't be blackmailed in a Ransomeware attack. 2.     Identify your essential data. Whether it's on a USB stick, a separate drive or computer, access to data backups should be restricted so that they are not permanently connected (either physically or over a local network) to the device holding the original copy. 3.     Ransomware and other malware can often move to attached storage automatically,  meaing both the original data and the copy could be infected, leaving you with no backup to recover from. Consider storing your backups in a different location. Cloud storage solutions are a cost-effective and efficient way of achieving this. 4.     More than likely you’ve been using cloud storage without thinking about it – your emails will already be stored in the cloud. The benefit of cloud storage is that it’s physically separate from your location. You'll also benefit from a high level of availability, specialist expertise, plus service providers can supply you with data storage so you don’t need to invest in expensive hardware. 5.     Most network or cloud storage solutions will enable you to back up your data automatically, which saves time and ensures you have the latest version of your files in the event of an emergency.
