The magic in unlikely collaborations Sometimes you meet someone who is very different from you and discover that difference is precisely why it works—or what makes the difference! I’m kicking off season 2 of my podcast Better Under Pressure this week with Simon Scott, my ‘unlikely’ business partner. Our Better Under Pressure conversation gave me a moment to reflect on the journey we have gone on together evolving Coaching Impact over the last 15 + years and how unlikely combinations can, in fact, be a powerful force. Why on earth would an ex ballerina and teacher join forces with an ex royal marine? Simon and I first met when we were at a coaching event and we found ourselves agreeing that the coaching that we witnessed wasn’t what we felt coaching was really about. Despite our many differences, and our vigorous debates around building a shared coaching philosophy, it was that day’s shared awareness that galvanised us to create something new. That ‘new’ started as a combination of both of us. And remains that way 15 years later. It’s been a gift to have a constant thinking partner, a wall to bounce off, to have someone who has your back even when you disagree. To be, as Simon would say, ‘cheerful in adversity’ together when the pressure is on (more about that on the podcast). ALL from an unlikely collaboration that keeps evolving. So stand by for season 2— episode 51 is dropping on Thursday where Simon will be sharing more of himself (not his favourite pastime 😀) and more about his relationship with pressure. if you have magic in an ‘unlikely’ collaboration - take the opportunity to call them out. They need to know. Please share and follow me, Sara Milne Rowe, for more on leadership, performance and impact for good. #Leadership #betterunderpressure #coachingimpact #coaching #performance #podcast
