Are your employees world class? (& how is this photo 12 years ago?!) At Click Communicate we've seen first hand that your most potent brand advocates are the ones on your payroll. Here's how some brands are making employees part of their story: 🧥 Burberry: Empowers staff to share behind-the-scenes content on social media with their #BurberryFamily hashtag ✈ Virgin: Richard Branson's "people-first" philosophy turns every employee into a walking billboard for the Virgin way of life. Result? A brand personality that's unmistakably Virgin 🥤 Innocent Drinks: Encourages colleagues to be as quirky as their smoothie bottles. Their office antics and witty social posts are all part of the job The secret formula? ➡ Infuse your culture with your brand values ➡ Trust employees to tell your brand story – at Diageo we would talk about ‘standing on the shoulders of giants’ ➡ Celebrate those who go the extra mile ➡ Remember, authenticity is key. Create a workplace your team genuinely loves, and watch them become your brand's most passionate voices Are you tapping into your employee potential? How visible are you? As in-house communicators we used to hope the impact of our work was visible to everyone. We quickly realised we had to get better at proactively sharing RESULTS. But... ❎ We were too busy to reflect and gather learnings ❎ Our stakeholders moved onto the next priority fast ❎ We questioned whether we had the right data and proof points So we got more disciplined about exploring impacts. Here’s an example. We recently partnered with a big brand to launch a strategic NGO partnership. It was a great fit, but the employee comms environment was busy and we needed to get cut through from day one. 🎯 After a highly visible launch and a 12-month drumbeat of comms, we had a 100% positive stakeholder response. We know that because we put the same effort into measuring as we did into the initial planning - playing back results and setting the scene for our client to have much easier strategy and budget conversations internally. What have you learnt about sharing results? We'd love to hear your gems. #strategiccommunications #measurement #partnership #creatingvalue #ClickCommunicate

Where’s your heartland? I’ve spent a chunk of my career in the drinks sector. Someone once said to me, if you can’t have fun in the alcohol industry, where can you? I’ve also always enjoyed working in highly regulated sectors, where organisations respect the sensitivity and responsibility that comes with it and do the right thing. So it’s no big surprise that I’ve been relishing these things in my spare time: ✅ Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver. The story of kid growing up in the Appalachian mountains of Virginia – home to the opioid crisis, thanks to the actions of Purdue Pharma and Oxycontin. It’s won a stack of awards and is hands-down the best novel I’ve read in a while ✅ On to Dopesick, a series exec produced by Michael Keaton (Disney+). Set in the same geography, it shows the forensically painstaking job of building a legal case against Purdue, despite unethical practices taking place in plain sight ✅ I’m now reading Empire of Pain, the award-winning book from Patrick Radden Keefe that examines the Sackler family’s role in creating Purdue and Oxycontin. It’s exceptional What do you gravitate towards in your work (and outside of it)?

Office perks - what’s in your top three? Home working is ace - but we needed something more at this stage of our journey. So Click Communicate has taken up residence in a fantastic co-working space called Patch. Here’s what we’ve learnt so far about the benefits of being in the office: ✅ ** Focus ** Today I’m writing a workshop and know I can crack on and get it done in an environment that’s perfectly set up for maximum productivity ✅ ** Collaboration ** Clare Fleerackers and I know from experience that we need to be together for brainstorming, planning and collaborative work. It’s how we best spark, flow, get to breakthroughs - and laugh along the way ✅ Energy ** As a pair of extroverts, we get lots from being around other people. We looked at an office just for us but felt immediately that we needed more. Even just a ‘hi’ as you pass by our co-working colleagues works for us What's your favorite aspect of office life? Share your thoughts! #OfficePerks #Collaboration #Productivity

😐 Farewell summer. Vineyards. Lazy days. 👋 On the flip side, hello world of drinks. Clare Fleerackers and I had a chance to whizz around the Drink It In Festival on Friday. We immersed ourselves in everything new and trending in alcohol, including low and no. This is a category that's transformed in a short space of time. In turn, it's changing our social experiences (social lives are still a thing, they're just different these days with so much choice available). The panel sessions were a great way to dive into some topics including sustainability, innovation and more. We've always loved the drinks world. It's dynamic, energetic and curious. Thanks Stuart Coleman and team for a great day. #drinks #alcohol #lowalc #noalc

It's SO good to talk. Friday night in the bar, just like old times. Kate Blakeley and I met up with a few ex-Diageo and Guinness colleagues in the heart of London, and it felt great. Over a particularly delicious Tanqueray Sevilla and Fever Tree tonic we reminisced, compared notes and felt the true power of communion (pint of Guinness anyone?) The brands continue to be amazing (you can’t beat gazing at a well-stocked back bar!) and it is so much fun to kick the weekend off with mates. And you are right Jason Sennitt, I did cut your hair off 😂 .

Where do your work relationships stand on a scale of 1-10? If you juggle lots of work relationships, it's likely that some are productive, collaborative and effective. While others are more difficult to navigate. Thriving in your role involves building strong connections within your organisation. ✅ When relationships work well, colleagues are accessible, open to new opportunities, understand your perspectives and priorities, collaborative, and make faster decisions. ❌ With some work colleagues and partners, it can be difficult to engage, prioritise what you need, get into someone’s diary, unlock budget, innovate, and much more. We’ve all been there, and it can feel frustratingly one-sided and unrewarding. Click Communicate’s Boost Your Business Partnering workshops enhance relationships across all levels. We motivate, challenge, and empower teams to excel. ➡ Book a free 30-minute call to discuss your team's relationship needs. I love learning, it’s such a treat. In fact, if you said I had to go back to full-time education, I’d probably be pretty happy (especially if I could study something like Greek mythology or a language). But what I don’t love is the thought of squeezing learning and development into a packed diary. And if a workshop involves pre-work, I feel a mild sense of panic at when I'll get it done. We’re currently creating a client workshop and are aware of the pre-work curse – but we KNOW it will add to the learning experience if we can join it all together. How do you feel about doing pre-work? And what transforms pre-work from a chore to a gem, in your humble opinion? All views welcome!
