Sophie WIlliams is helping to show a more positive and realistic representation of care experienced people in the media. Sophie stars in Alma's Not Normal, which has received rave reviews from within the care community. The Baby Box Project initiative is helping to better support care leavers on their journeys to parenthood. Founded in 2020, the project supports new parents with useful supplies alongside access to information and support. More than 115 boxes containing essential items have been distributed so far and the box itself can even be used as a safe space for napping. The project also separately provides young parents with financial support to help them buy more expensive items, such as a cot, buggy or car seat. After helping so many young care leavers, the initiative is now partnering Baby Basics Warwick, British Baby Box Company, and Evelyn's gift to ensure that more care experienced parents can access the support they deserve. https://lnkd.in/eXmUT8en #CareLeavers #CareExperienced

Back in 2022, the Scottish Government published its Promise Implementation Plan. The Promise initiative is firmly rooted in its aim to eradicate child poverty and deliver high quality public services. Underpinning The Promise is the belief that if we can think, act and invest differently, the outcomes for looked after children and care leavers could be greatly improved. This new updated report gives an overview of work undertaken since 2022 and sets out how the promise will be achieved by 2030. It's truly incredible work and we can't wait to see the positive impact it brings for children, families and young people across Scotland. https://lnkd.in/eZFdWT3H #CareExperienced #CareLeavers #LookedAfterChildren

New research is hoping to better understand what measures should be collected on care leaver outcomes. The project brought together researchers, care-experienced facilitators, representatives from national and local government teams, as well as charities supporting care leavers, to participate in a research-informed discussion of what these measures might look like. The research uncovered six key themes: 💻 Education 💡 Employment & Training 🏡 Accommodation & Stability 💙 Relationships 🍎 Wellbeing 📢 Voice It's hoped that the research will help to improve the currently limited range of outcomes measures to better understand the full range of successes and difficulties that care leavers experience. The increased outcomes data collected would enable providers to better understand the impact of service delivery, alongside helping to influence government and local authority policies and practice. If you're a supported accommodation provider looking to better measure outcomes and improve engagement with young people in your care, drop us a message to see how Clearcare could help! https://lnkd.in/ezghpfxr #CareLeavers #Outcomes #SupportedAccommodation

A great discussion here from David Thompson of National Association of Supported Accommodation Partners (NASAP) and Ofsted's Yvette Stanley. Like David, we're proud to work with incredible supported accommodation providers and have seen first-hand the hard work that goes into delivering positive outcomes for young people. It's hoped that Ofsted regulation will drive positive change and ensure that young care leavers are given the support they deserve. We can't wait to attend The National Supported Accommodation Conference in November to continue the discussion - hope to see you there! https://lnkd.in/eHWrWGUA #SupportedAccommodation #NASAP #Ofsted
