The UK's aviation and aerospace regulator
About us
We are the UK’s aviation and aerospace regulator. We strive to ensure the aviation industry meets the highest safety standards in order to protect air passengers and the general public. We also run the ATOL scheme, which ensures that consumers are protected financially should they become stranded abroad. But our work doesn’t stop there. Aviation is an exciting and rapidly expanding field, and we are proud to be at the forefront. Our work sees us developing regulations for the most current aviation technology, and ensuring that environmental standards are effectively managed. You could help us to achieve our strategic objectives, and be a part of something great. Providing our people with talent and development opportunities is a fundamental part of our strategy. We have an approach to performance and development that supports accountability, wellbeing, and puts you in the driving seat. It encourages open dialogue between you and your manager with regular conversations to help shape your aspirations, share feedback, manage your progression and build your personal development plan. Our wide range of courses and resources are open to all to support you in your current role and help you get ready for a great future. We also encourage secondments, project-based work and 'on the job' learning as part of our blended learning approach. Got any spare lithium batteries in your bags? 🛃 🔋 Devices like laptops, electric toothbrushes, and even power banks use them, and they can be a fire hazard in an aircraft's hold. Remember the rules before packing for your next flight 👉 https://lnkd.in/e-eWwCQ9

📄 Our leaflets covering two critical areas of loss of control during recreational flying: angle of attack and in-flight incidents within the circuit, have been refreshed. We’ve also added an all-new leaflet focused on loss of control during take-off and landing. Between 2018 and 2023, 10 per cent of all General Aviation (GA) accidents and serious incidents were due to loss of control in flight, with most occurring during take off. 🩸 We’re supporting ground-breaking trials like the drone deliveries of NHS blood samples in London, as part of our mission to enable aerospace. We greenlit the airspace aspects of the trial and are looking forward to seeing flying start later this year, once further work has been completed. Our Director of Future Flight, Sophie O'Sullivan said: "Innovative trials like this from Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, Apian and Wing help demonstrate the many positive and safe ways that drones can be used for society - in this case, to improve patient outcomes and deliver significant environmental benefits. "This is one of the many reasons that we are working with companies through our sandbox trials programme, to enable the test and development of pioneering new aviation technology in the UK."
