Many congratulations to former City Minister, Andrew Griffith MP, who has been awarded the Freedom of the City of London, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the UK’s financial services sector. Andrew was nominated by former Lord Mayor of the City of London, Sir Nicholas Lyons, and the City of London Corporation’s Policy Chairman, Chris Hayward. Andrew Griffith was elected to Parliament in December 2019 and has served in senior government roles, including Economic Secretary to the Treasury – also known as the ‘City Minister’ - in 2022 and 2023, and Science Minister. He worked with the Chancellor, Lord Mayor, Policy Chairman, and many others to improve the competitiveness of the financial services sector, including the Edinburgh Reforms, Mansion House Compact, and Financial Services & Markets Act 2023. https://bit.ly/3Xjacqe

Congratulations to everyone who put 'Pepys Day' in their diaries and booked a place on the sold-out City of London Guide tours on 6 September, during which they will hear about Samuel Pepys’ personal life, career, and key moments about the Great Fire of London, which he wrote about in his celebrated Diary. Pepys witnessed and recorded the events of that extraordinary week in 1666. The fire started on 2nd September and was extinguished on 6th September. The tours start at The Monument and finish inside the Lord Mayor's official residence, The Mansion House, where everyone will be met by Lord Mayor Professor Michael Mainelli and the Lady Mayoress to raise a toast to Pepys and his Diary. #PepysDay #SamuelPepys #GreatFireOfLondon #LordMayorsAppeal #DestinationCity https://bit.ly/4cIT0A4
