About us

Once upon a shirt, Nicholas Charles Tyrwhitt Wheeler (whilst studying Geography at Bristol University – we might add) had the notion that he could make a better shirt at better value than anyone else in the world! He believed that all men; no matter their shape or size, where they may be in the world or indeed their budget; should be able to own a Jermyn Street quality shirt. A proper shirt. A CT shirt. That was over 3 decades ago and whilst Charles Tyrwhitt (it rhymes with spirit by the way) is still famous for proper shirts, these days we are about so much more than collars and cuffs. Our purpose is to “make it easy for men to dress well”. We take care of a chap’s entire wardrobe, providing stylish solutions for every occasion. We make sure he gets what he wants, when and how he wants it. Our spiritual home and flagship store is located on London’s famous Jermyn Street. Our Global Head Office is in London Bridge, whilst we also have an office in Manhattan to support our retail and online presence across North America, Europe and Australia. Not forgetting our Distribution Centre and Contact Centre in Milton Keynes. At Charles Tyrwhitt we believe in doing the right thing. That means making our products properly and sustainably, making our business work for our people, our customers, and our suppliers and giving back to charity to support those in need. We’re taking a good hard look at our social and environmental impact, and always looking for ways to be better. When it comes to our people, we really do “Give a shirt”. Tyrwhitteers (our people) are a diverse, passionate and entrepreneurial bunch. We enjoy a fun, engaging and rewarding culture, where everyone is empowered by our 3 BE-liefs which are; “BE the BOSS”, “BE the CUSTOMER” and “BE the BEST”.

This weekend we joined forces with our friends at The White Company for the 17th edition of Palace to Palace, in support of The Prince's Trust. It was far from a typical Sunday in October, with 21 lycra clad cyclists pedalling their way from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle, over a 45 mile course, and 45 intrepid walkers completing the new 13.1 mile Palace Walk, taking in the sights and sounds of Windsor along the way! Together we: 🚵♂️ Pedalled 945 Miles 🚶♀️ Walked 590 Miles 😝 And consumed far too many caramel wafers to recall… But most importantly, collectively we raised over £30,000 for The Prince’s Trust. 👑 We’re prouder than ever to support this remarkable charity and be able to make a difference to the lives of so many young people. A big thank you to our friends at The White Company and to The Prince’s Trust team for another amazing event. We had the best day out, making many new friends along the way and we can’t wait to do it all again next year. Roll on Palace to Palace 2025!

Less than 2 weeks ago, we joined over 400 individuals from across the retail industry and gathered for a glamorous black-tie reception at The People in Retail Awards (PIRA) 2024. Back for its second year, the PIRA commemorate the individuals and teams who have set new benchmarks for innovation, dedication, and service in the retail sector. CT were up for 4 awards on the night, with Louis Coelho shortlisted for Employee of the Year, Lola Idris and Martin Jones both shortlisted for Manager of the Year, George Morris for the Rising Spark Award and last but not least, our Learning and Development team shortlisted for the People Development Team of the Year award. For the second year in a row, CT were victorious in the Employee of the Year category, with Louis picking up the honours on the night. The Employee of the Year award is one of the most challenging to win and shines the light on those exceptional individuals who have showcased their commitment to achieving excellence for both the business and the people it serves. Congratulations to Louis on a thoroughly deserved win!

It was only 2 weeks ago that we shared the news of our brand new Cheltenham store... but that's old news now! We're incredibly excited to open the doors on our first ever store in Northern Ireland and welcome the customers of Belfast! It's our first new store opening this side of the pandemic outside of England and an incredible amount of work, planning and determination was needed to make it happen so a big thank you as always to all the Tyrwhitteers involved along the journey. We know the store will be in safe hands with our newest Store Manager, Paula, and her team. Good luck all, and welcome to the CT family! Where will we be off to next? #NewStore #AnotherOne #Retail

You may wonder why a little bird appears on some of our products. Not just any old bird, but a Lapwing – and without it, we wouldn’t be Charles Tyrwhitt. The lapwing used to be widespread throughout Britain, but with more space dedicated to farming comes less space for the lapwing's ground nests. Sadly this special bird now finds itself on the RSPB red-list and needs our help! We’re proud to have teamed up with Nature Broking and farmer Rob Wainwright (ex Scotland captain and British Lion) to support a farming-for-nature project on the Isle of Coll. Rob is helping promote the plight of the lapwing, working closely with local wildlife experts to increase their population through innovative farming practices. Earlier this year we visited Rob on Coll to find out more about what he’s doing to help protect this beautiful bird. Today is #InternationalYouthDay, a day dedicated to celebrating the vital role of young people in society, acknowledging their potential, their achievements and the role they will play in building a brighter future. It also serves as a reminder of the challenges youth face globally, such as educational barriers, limited access to healthcare, and economic instability. Here at Charles Tyrwhitt we believe that every young person should have the opportunity to succeed, no matter their background or the challenges they are facing. That's why for the last seven years we have been proud patrons of The Prince's Trust, supporting their work to help young people develop the essential skills and confidence they need to get ready for work and access job opportunities. This International Youth Day we’re prouder than ever to support this remarkable charity and we celebrate all of the incredible young people we have had the pleasure of helping along the way. Following on from our post last week announcing another record breaking year, it's important we invest in our operation to ensure it is fit for purpose and can keep up with the increased sales as the business continues to grow. We're absolutely delighted to say we've just finished installing our new mezzanine floor project at our Distribution Centre in Milton Keynes. This huge £1.5m project has increased our stock capacity by 20% and will ensure we're able to stay in the local area for the foreseeable future. Here's a snapshot of the new area to give you an idea of the operation! #investment #project #distributioncentre #growth
