About us

Charityworks is a unique professional development charity. It is carefully designed to provide a cost effective way of finding and growing the future leaders of charitable organisations in the United Kingdom. The only scheme of its kind in the sector to serve more than one organisation, it offers a unique opportunity for graduates and young professionals to gain experience and build networks across the charity sector, at the same time as offering organisations an opportunity to attract, grow and retain talented staff in a way that saves money without compromising on quality.

Around ⅔ of the G15 housing providers have partnered with Charityworks, including around 40 trainees placed with our partner SNG (Formerly Network Homes) - in areas such as Business Performance and Partnerships, Customer services and Finance. Tania joined Charityworks working in Housing Management for Network Homes, where she was also part of the Racial Equality Action Group (REAG). Tania was shortlisted for The G15 Ethnicity in Housing Awards for the Future Leader Award and the Early Housing Career Award and was placed in the Top 20 of HQN’s Housing’s Next Generation competition. She is still at Network Homes today, working in their Policy & Comms team. Robbie was hired as a Sustainability and Asset Management (2022) trainee for his placement year on Charityworks, before being offered a permanent role as Sustainability Officer, continuing with SNG, where he is employed today. The placement matching process is currently open, and the deadline for roles for the first phase of matching is the 12th July, so get in touch with us today to find out how we can support your resourcing needs: https://lnkd.in/en2_arw4

Over the 15 years that the programme has been running, we've been privileged to build up fantastic relationships with many wonderful organisations. Our partnership with Hospice UK, for example, started in 2015 and has seen us place 12 graduates in roles across areas such as communications, research and major giving. Matilde Gomez Diez worked as an Executive Assistant supporting the Senior Leadership Team and the Board in 2022. Described by CEO Toby Porter as “one of the most talented and popular colleagues I have ever had the privilege to work with”, she won the Impact Research Award for her project on the barriers affecting migrant communities accessing palliative care in London. Hazel was the Clinical Team Coordinator (2017) before internal promotion saw her migrate to a Project Manager role working on Project ECHO, focusing on community healthcare outcomes in the hospice sector. She is now a Programme Manager at the Royal College of Psychiatrists. This partnership has been such a success that just under 5% of Hospice UK’s workforce are Charityworks trainees or fellows. Whether we're lucky enough to have worked with you before or not, we'd love to have a chat about how we can support you with your resourcing needs. The placement matching process for this year is now open, so book in a call with the team today: https://lnkd.in/e5h38iEH

Final interviews for this year's Charityworks cohort are now complete, with placement matching due to open in June! Here's what Ashanya Griffiths, our Learning Experience Manager, had to say about the interview process: 'I have been impressed by the diversity of experience represented by our candidates and am particularly appreciative of how much of themselves our candidates have brought to the interviews. I've truly appreciated getting to learn about the candidates that I've met on a 1:1 basis and am feeling excited about the cohort we will be able to bring together for the Charityworks 2024 programme year!' We are open for host organisations looking to join the programme this year, get in touch with us now: https://lnkd.in/exM6cGsX

Yesterday I attended a Charityworks conference on leading change using reflexive techniques and building resilience. It was great to see everyone in my cohort again, to catch up and share our experiences of each placement. I look forward to sharing progress at the next one.

Great to connect to others in the sector last week alongside Rachel Whale, where we explored our learning about hiring and retaining diverse talent in an effort to expand our collaborative network of mission driven organisations that share a wider ambition to make our sector far more inclusive. Nice to "see" Su Starkey, Roneeta Patel, Simone Bartley, Meike Beckford, Jess Drain (Assoc. CIPD), the team at The Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts and many others. The slide deck and the recording are now accessible with the report here: https://lnkd.in/eAMVz8mt
