🚨 UK Government restricts 30 out of 350 arms licences to Israel Dorothy Sang, CARE International UK's Head of Advocacy & Policy: "The Government has today announced that it intends to restrict 30 out of 350 arms licenses to Israel, a welcome improvement. But sadly, this is woefully inadequate. It is unconscionable that British-made weapons could be used in breach of international law in Gaza. The Government must now publish the legal advice it has used to reach this decision, in its entirety. Over 40,000 Palestinians have been killed and there remains no safe place in Gaza. We urge the Government to go further, and suspend all arms export licenses to Israel. The Government’s criteria for arms exports are clear that licences should not be granted where there is a clear risk that the items might be used in violation of international humanitarian law.  Arms sales and transfers to Israel must stop and an immediate sustained ceasefire must begin. Today marks 500 days of conflict in Sudan.   More than 180,000 people have been killed. Nearly half of Sudan’s population face severe hunger. But are enough people talking about it?   Women and girls are disproportionately impacted, facing sexual and gender-based violence. They are also more likely to be displaced, less likely to eat and less likely to have access to health services.   In spite of this, Sudanese women are showing incredible resilience and leadership. “I met a family who has been displaced from Gaza City, 21 times.”   CARE's Chief Humanitarian Officer Deepmala Mahla, Ph. This year so far, 176 aid workers have been killed in deliberate attacks. 121 of those killed have been aid workers in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, the majority in Gaza. National and local staff are heroes, working tirelessly to save lives despite often lacking personal safety and security. Women aid workers also face unique and often increased risks just because they are women.
