A beautiful sight for the crew of MV Glen Sannox as she sailed down the Clyde at the weekend - a pod of dolphins playing off the bow.
Some very special visitors were spotted off the bow of MV Glen Sannox on Saturday morning... A pod of dolphins accompanied her down the Firth of Clyde on day two of her LNG trials. Following a successful three days at sea, MV Glen Sannox's LNG trials are now complete.

This #ScotClimateWeek, our colleagues have shared their #StoriesForChange – even the smallest of actions can make a big difference in tackling climate change for a healthier, happier Scotland. Here are just some of the ways our staff are contributing... ♻️ MV Lochnevis switched to reusable cups and expanded food waste recycling. An impactful step towards sustainability at sea! 📚 The Armadale port team grows plants from seeds and runs a charity book stall, allowing customers to grab a second hand book and support a great cause. 💡 On the Isle of Coll, the port team optimises recycling and cuts energy use – even helping a farmer with shredded paper for chicken bedding. 🌱 The crew on MV Isle of Arran turned excess galley food into a delicious, zero-waste Mexican feast during a downtime. Together, small steps create a lasting impact. What are your #StoriesForChange? 📸: dylan.outbound

It’s not long until we bid farewell to MV Hebridean Isles, a CalMac stalwart, who is set for a well-earned retirement this November, almost 40 years after joining the fleet. We would really like to gather your fond memories of her, so that we can give the old lady a good send off. Please share your stories and photos with us so that we can mark the occasion with style! Email your memories to our comms team at [email protected] by 29 September.

It’s great to see works at Kennacraig and Port Askaig reach important milestones as we prepare for new vessels which will add resilience and capacity to Islay. Find out more ⬇️
Works at Kennacraig and Port Askaig have reached key milestones in preparation for the new Islay vessels 🚢 ✅ Kennacraig work was completed two weeks ahead of schedule ✅ Port Askaig has reopened as planned Upgrades to the south berth of Kennacraig ferry terminal are now complete, while Port Askaig ferry terminal fendering work has also finished. At Kennacraig, work began in November 2023 when the fixed ramp on the north berth was modified. In January 2024 the south berth was closed to replace fenders, build new pile walls, dredge, and refurbish the linkspan. Work was completed two weeks ahead of schedule, allowing CalMac Ferries Limited services to resume from the south berth. On the north berth, walls will now be constructed, fenders replaced, the ramp re-profiled, and dredging will take place. At Argyll and Bute Council's Port Askaig, work began in March this year to install piles and foundations for a mooring aid, as well as electrical upgrades. The port was closed for six weeks in June to allow the refurbishment of fenders on the roundhead, and reopened on 31 July as scheduled. The remaining work will continue without disruption to services. Contractors included GEORGE LESLIE, Napier Bros Engineers and Malin Group. Engineering consultant, Mott MacDonald, installed vital upgrades at both ports. Reaching these key milestones is helping pave the way for the delivery of new vessels by the end of the year.
