🌟 Friday Roundup from the C R Toogood & Co Ltd team! 🌟 Happy Friday, everyone! Join us to summarise the past week: Autumn Budget 2024: A Summary: - This week the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves, presented her 2024 Autumn Budget to Parliament on 30 October. She was the first woman to deliver a UK Budget and this was the Labour Party’s first Budget for more than 14 years. - When the Chancellor finished her statement in the Commons, the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) published updated forecasts for the UK’s economic and fiscal outlook. - The Chancellor has increased government spending by around 2% of GDP a year, on average, over the next five years. One-third of the additional spending will go on government’s investment spending on things such as transport, housing, and research and development. The remaining two-thirds will go on government’s day-to-day spending. - Half of the increase in spending is funded through an increase in taxes, mainly through higher employer National Insurance contributions and capital taxes. The remaining half is funded largely through additional borrowing. - The Chancellor said the Budget is “restoring stability to our public finances and rebuilding our public services” and restoring “economic stability”. 📰 News & Events: - Big thank you to The Partnership for the treats sent to our office this week! - Happy Belated Birthday to C R Toogood & Co Director Peter Toogood 🎉 We hope you had a great birthday! 🔗 Stay Connected: - Make sure to follow our Instagram page (@toogoods_insurance) for more updates, tips, and industry news. Delighted to see the new Lanning Toogood advertising banner at the Surrey 89ers game last night. Not the result hoped for with the win going to Leicester Riders, but a great evening as always. It’s great to be involved with top flight British basketball sponsorship in Guildford again. Lanning toogood is a trading name of C R Toogood & Co Ltd.

🌟 It's that time again for our Friday Roundup! 🌟 Let's wrap up the week with some C R Toogood & Co Ltd highlights: 🏡 Industry Insights: - This week we have seen many headlines including the The Renters' Rights Bill, which abolishes no-fault evictions under Section 21. This was introduced in the UK Parliament on September 11, 2024. This bill aims to provide tenants with greater protection by preventing landlords from evicting tenants without giving a valid reason. The reforms are set to be implemented by summer 2025. - Other key measures include applying stricter safety standards to rental properties and banning practices like rental bidding wars and discriminatory bans on tenants receiving benefits or with children. The bill is still in the early stages, so it may undergo changes before becoming law. - The Renters' Rights Bill could affect property insurance in several ways for example; Property Maintenance. The bill requires landlords to meet the Decent Homes Standard, ensuring properties are free from serious health and safety hazards. - Risk of Evictions: With the removal of no-fault evictions, landlords may face extended periods of vacancy if a tenant refuses to leave, especially in cases involving disputes or non-payment. This could lead to higher insurance premiums as insurers might consider the increased risk of rental income loss or property damage during longer tenancy periods. - Pet Insurance: The bill allows tenants to request permission to keep pets, and landlords can require tenants to have pet insurance. This adds another insurance consideration for property owners. 👨👨👧👦 Team News: - This week Andrew Smart (Cert CII) attended Lord's cricket ground with ACIES MGU. Thank you for the invitation, we hope to see you at events in the future! - This afternoon, Peter Toogood & Kevin Hope had a great meeting with James Cadle from Eaton Gate MGU. We are looking forward to future business together. 🙌 Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend ahead. Let's recharge and come back next week better than ever! #FridayFeeling #TeamWork #Innovation #IndustryInsights #EmployeeAppreciation
