💼 International Equal Pay Day: Taking Action for Fairness 🌍 Today is International Equal Pay Day, an opportunity for us to reflect on the progress made and the work still ahead when it comes to closing the gender pay gap. In 2023, the gender pay gap among full-time employees increased slightly to 7.7% from 7.6% in 2022, though it remains below the pre-pandemic level of 9.0% in 2019. Among all employees, the gap decreased to 14.3%, continuing a long-term downward trend. However, the disparity is still more pronounced among higher earners and employees aged 40 and over.* While the gender pay gap has decreased across all major occupational groups from 2022 to 2023, skilled trades occupations still have the largest gap—though it's encouraging to see it narrowing over time. Additionally, the gap is higher in every English region compared to Wales, Scotland, or Northern Ireland, highlighting the need for continued efforts across all regions. Equal pay isn’t just about fairness; it’s about building a stronger company culture and boosting employee morale.
