Let's never forget the vital role tourism plays in our region. Along with the boost to the visitor economy and the jobs key attractions bring, they also enrich the North East as a place to live, invest and grow a business. So hats off to David Jared Bowers, PhD and The Auckland Project - which includes Auckland Palace and Gardens, Auckland Tower, the Faith Museum, the Spanish Gallery and Mining Art Gallery - for getting the highest rating from VisitEngland.

The Northern Echo gave the first Budget from Rt Hon Rachel Reeves three marks out of ten. We hoped for more specific mentions from our ten-point wishlist, but will now analyse what was said and see if we can find more to build on. What did you think - was your wishlist fulfilled or forgotten? https://lnkd.in/effijxXg https://lnkd.in/eaETZaWC

We're already planning the next BUSINESSiQ quarterly magazine and I haven't even finished telling you about the last one! One of my highlights was the chance to catch up with The Northern Powerhouse Partnership CEO Henri Murison. Henri is a hugely respected and influential figure in the region and we talked about many issues such as Mayors, Net Zero, skills, child poverty and the key role of successful organisations like Tees Components and the North East Chamber of Commerce.

☕Time for another Brew!☕ For the latest Business Brew podcast, we talked to Reshma Begum, who looks after the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) in the North East. The FSB does vital work across the country, but in the fastest-changing of all regions that army of small businesses is a vital part of the scaffolding supporting our growth. The opportunities for SMEs are unrivalled here, so it was great to catch up with Reshma to talk at such an exciting time.
