About us

Born from innovation, Burberry is a global luxury brand with a rich British heritage.  Founded in 1856, our brand is underpinned by our founder’s passion for the outdoors. Thomas Burberry invented the innovative rain-ready fabric gabardine to protect explorers from the elements. In doing so, he created the foundation for the iconic Burberry trench coat, which remains core to the business even today.  Guided by our history of exploration and our shared belief that ‘creativity opens spaces’, our purpose is to unlock the power of imagination to push boundaries and open new possibilities for our people, our customers and our communities. As a values-driven brand, we are committed to creating the next generation of sustainable luxury and believe that diversity, equity and inclusion are essential to fulfilling our purpose. Fostering an inclusive culture where differences are valued and embraced enables us to be more creative, engaged and make a more meaningful contribution to the world around us. Last month, we reopened our flagship store in Seoul, South Korea.     Creating a new shopping experience for the Burberry customer, the store references both our heritage and iconic house codes. Notable details include Burberry Check upholstery, Equestrian Knight Design carvings and sculptural furniture inspired by renowned artists Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth.     To celebrate the opening, the store will also host two installations, including an exhibition featuring three contemporary British artists and a curation of archive outerwear replicas. Building on our heritage of innovation in design, fabric and function, we continue to explore new materials and manufacturing processes.  In partnership with our supplier and an agricultural tech start-up, we're creating a fabric made from hydroponic and organic cotton. Grown in greenhouses, hydroponic cotton uses only water, nutrients, and coconut fibre instead of soil. This ongoing trial aims to help us grow and source high-quality cotton while conserving water and reducing land use. We are also working with a textile dyehouse to apply its unique waterless dyeing and finishing technologies to yarns and fabrics. Powered by renewable energy in a closed-loop machine, one of the applications uses CO₂ technology to apply the dye, resulting in a water-free dying process. Through textile innovation, our founder, Thomas Burberry, elevated outerwear performance and enhanced its ability to protect explorers from the elements.  Continuing to harness our legacy of creativity and exploration, we have introduced a blended scarf, made with an innovative new material, Brewed Protein™ fibre.  Woven in Italy, the scarf is made of 62% wool, 8% cashmere, and 30% Brewed Protein™, a lab-grown fibre created by fermenting plant-based ingredients. This process ensures the scarf maintains Burberry's signature qualities of luxury, warmth, protection, and durability. As the first luxury brand to release a product with biotech venture Spiber Inc., we are excited to incorporate this next-gen fibre into our soft accessories. The B shield scarf is now available in stores and online. Discover more about our heritage of innovation here: https://lnkd.in/ezDavgPV

Last month, our Architecture and Visual Merchandising teams visited our Burberry Inspire partner, OnSide, to host a ‘Burberry Store Design Challenge’.      The challenge was an exploration of creativity, encouraging young people to design and pitch their own store concept to a panel of judges. Guided by the mentorship of Burberry volunteers, the activity offered unique insight into how design principles and architectural concepts are brought to life in our stores.     The winning team later visited our Sloane Street Store where they learned more about the store’s design and enjoyed a styling session.      Discover more about Burberry Inspire here: https://lnkd.in/dnKJ4gaM

There is a sense of adventure in the summertime.     For Burberry Summer 2025, trench elements are deconstructed and realised in fabrics that feel light, with weathered materials and bags referencing the outdoors. Fabrics are washed and sun-bleached for a worn feel, drawing on our heritage of fabric innovation.     Check features across jackets, trousers and bags in linen cotton, silk viscose and chainmail.     Discover more about the Summer 2025 collection here: https://lnkd.in/eevTHiDj
