📻A vote of confidence in radio: Analysis of the latest RAJAR audience figures from Mike Young 📻 The latest RAJAR audience figures are out for the UK’s radio stations. The combined audience for all radio in the UK has seen yet another new record of 50.9 million adults. It’s a continued vote of confidence in the medium and again highlights the power of radio in getting a message across. A key headline is the surge in audience to BBC Radio 5live which is now pulling in more than 6 million listeners a week. As a former 5liver, I always expected to see a boost to listener numbers if there was a period of big news and big sport. The third quarter of this year certainly saw that with a General Election, UEFA Euro 24 and the Paris Olympics all woven into a very busy period. The challenge for 5live is to keep these listeners going forward. Among some of the other notable stations, Capital, Heart and Smooth each have attained their biggest audiences with 12.99m tuning into Heart, 9.7m for Capital and 7.7m for Smooth. LBC climbs to 3.4 million people tuning in each week. LBC News has grown again to go past the million-listener level. Sitting at around the half-million level you’ll find Talk Radio (576,000 listeners) and Times Radio (557,0000). GB News Radio has achieved its highest figure with 611,000 people tuning in each week. That’s not bad at all for a station that is simply an audio feed of the GB News TV network. #Broadcasting #Radio #BroadcastPR
