Brightwell is the new name for BT Pension Scheme Management, the primary service provider to the £37bn BT Pension Scheme, one of the largest private sector pension schemes in the UK. At Brightwell, we understand what it means to manage a complex defined benefit (DB) pension scheme. We’re proud of everything we’ve delivered for BTPS and, in recent years, we've invested heavily to improve the service we provide to the Scheme and its members including the introduction of new administration and investment and liability platforms. We've insourced, innovated and disrupted inefficient industry practices and, in doing so, learned how to do things better. We’re excited to now be able to offer our services to a select group of partners who, like us, want to offer high quality service to members and sustainable funding and investment solutions. Yesterday we invited several BTPS members to visit Paradise Birmingham, one of the Scheme's sustainable UK investments. Members were given a presentation from Trustee Chair Jill Mackenzie and Brightwell CIO Wyn Francis on the Scheme's sustainability strategy. Ross Fittall and Rob Groves from MEPC Limited also gave a detailed overview of the development's history and future. Members were then treated to a guided tour and lunch in one of the development's restaurants. This was then followed by a series of interviews where the members gave their views on the site and the Scheme's commitment to sustainability. Footage from the day will be shared in a feature video later this year. Last night we attended Professional Pensions' UK Pensions Awards and took home two awards. BTPS was awarded Pension Scheme of the Year, for a second time in 2024. The GMPeasy group, of which Brightwell is a founding member, also won Best Pension Scheme Communication Strategy.
