We couldn't let Halloween go by without giving us an excuse to share these images from a recent ecology training day! Our team spent a busy day and night locating and identifying different bat species, including common and soprano pipistrelles. Our in-house team can support you with all aspects of ecology for your project. We employ licence holders for all major UK protected species and have a wealth of experience in the assessment, design and delivery of comprehensive ecological services.

The BMD team enjoyed a jam-packed few days away at Tewinbury in Hertfordshire last week. Big thanks to John from Social and Vim from Honey Badger who kept us all on track planning our strategy for the next exciting chapter at BMD. As well as sharing ideas and thinking creatively about how we can better support each other and our clients, we were also able to spend some quality time together, getting out into the beautiful local countryside for foraging and walking as well as putting our skills to the test in a cocktail making masterclass that only got slightly competitive! It was a reminder of how important events like these are for stepping away from the day-to-day, thinking about the bigger picture and reflecting on why we do what we do. We’re feeling refreshed and raring to go! #awayday #teambuilding #strategyday

The Trees and Design Action Group (TDAG) seminar on Placemaking with Trees will be taking place at 2-4pm today. BMD's very own Ryan Murphy will be taking part and the panel will explore: How can the way we design with trees enhance the quality of a place for people and nature. How can we think of planting space in four dimensions – below ground, at ground level, above ground now and in the future. How can we design places that enable planting of larger forest tress to provide the greatest long term benefits. Some the BMD team, otherwise known as "In the Nico Time", recently took part in a Team Endurance Race at Daytona, Sandown Park. As well as being huge fun, a fantastic £16,737.05 was raised at this charity event, which will be match funded by the Berkeley Foundation and donated to their community partnerships. This event was in aid of the designated charity Alexander Devine Children's Hospice Service. The hospice provides care for terminally ill babies and young children whilst providing support to their families. #hospicecareweek #charityfundraising #communitypartnerships

Ryan and Jo from BMD had a great time at this event on Tuesday evening. Jo said: "It’s been an evening of invaluable takeaways on how to create exemplar, long-lasting, healthy communities reflecting on three places that have truly flourished." Thanks for hosting JTP LLP!
JTP's Creating Healthy Communities event is in full swing as we reflect on successful placemaking and community stewardship a decade in the making. Highlights so far include: 🔑Key insights on overcoming early-stage challenges such as establishing multi-purpose infrastructure, securing community buy in and importantly funding. 💡Case studies of Graylingwell Park, Chichester, Cholsey Meadows, South Oxfordshire and Whitmore Park, Colchester – showing how these communities have flourished over the last decade. 📣Listening to the community is key, responding to what they need and want. 🌳 Making the most of heritage assets and mature landscape. Trees and nature are assets too! 👫New neighbourhoods should complement existing communities, not undermine them. It’s been an evening of invaluable takeaways on how to create exemplar, long-lasting, healthy communities reflecting on three places that have truly flourished. Thank you to our presenters and speakers for their insightful expertise and contributions; Amy Burbidge, Mike Goulding, Suzanne Keenan, Clare San Martin, Clare de Bathe, Charles Campion, Mark Patchett and David Birkbeck. #healthycommunities #community #stewardship #placemaking #housing #design

Good luck Sophie!
