About us
We’re the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. We’re determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. Our vision is a future where nobody dies of the disease. We support: We provide expert information and support for everyone affected by bowel cancer. Our online forum is a place for people to talk about their experiences, share their knowledge and support each other. We campaign: We’re leading change for younger bowel cancer patients, campaigning to improve survival and quality of life for those with advanced bowel cancer and working to improve early diagnosis by ensuring people are getting the right test at the right time. We support and enable research: We are committed to funding research that improves the prevention, early detection and treatment of the disease. We educate: We run training, workshops and study days for healthcare professionals. We also have a dedicated team of volunteers who give free awareness talks to workplaces and community groups across the UK.

Yesterday, our incredible team of 289 runners crossed the Great North Run finish line in South Shields. Words can’t even describe how proud and grateful we’re to every single person who took on this fantastic challenge for us. It’s because of people like them we can continue to raise vital awareness of bowel cancer and significant funds for our research and services. Together, we’re supporting those affected by the disease and working towards a future where nobody dies of bowel cancer. To the loved ones of our runners – thank you for your never-ending support. From the long training runs to cheering as loud as you could on the day. They couldn’t have done it without you. Finally, our volunteers and staff. You made sure every single one of our runners was supported and appreciated on the big day around the gruelling 13.1-mile course. We understand that some of our community may feel confused when their GP hands them an at-home test. This is why we’re so grateful to Dr Anisha Patel for explaining so clearly in this video what to do when you’re given one. Anisha was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2018 and works as a GP. If you have symptoms of bowel cancer, your GP may give you an at-home test, called a faecal immunochemical test (FIT). We know it can be difficult sometimes to get a GP appointment. It’s important to keep trying so you can ask your GP about an at-home test. Read more about visiting your GP here: https://bit.ly/48zudgI
