As the year draws to a close, Bouygues UK is reflecting on the incredible efforts and achievements our team has made in adding social value this festive season. The team has been extremely busy and some of the highlights have included organising a spectacular Christmas pantomime at Tustin Estate with Chaplains Panto Company, providing two performances that delighted children from Pilgrims' Way Primary School and Nursery and local residents alike. For many children, this was their first experience of a pantomime play. Local resident, Nasrin said, "I just wanted to take a moment to express how much my family and I enjoyed the performance of Beauty and the Beast. My kids absolutely loved it, and we were all so impressed by the production. Thank you for bringing this magical experience." Discover what else our team has been up to this festive season and hear more from other residents about the positive impact we have had on our communities on our website: https://lnkd.in/eHMndNsg We are incredibly proud of our social value teams and their dedication to supporting our communities. We look forward to furthering our community work as we move into the new year. From all of us at Bouygues UK, we wish you a happy and peaceful festive season. #SocialValueMatters #FestiveSeason

Local school, St John Lloyd Catholic School and Carmarthenshire Music Services performed carols for guests to spread some festive cheer ahead of the holidays. Guests from Carmarthenshire County Council as well as Bouygues UK team members and local supply chain partners enjoyed performances of Hark, The Herald Angels Sing, Silent Night and O, Come All Ye Faithful in Pentre Awel’s atrium and festive treats with all monies raised being donated to LATCH Welsh Children's Cancer Charity. Nina Williams, Bouygues UK’s social advisor for Pentre Awel, said: "Social value is really important to us at Bouygues UK and what better way to celebrate our collaborative approach with our partners and the community than singing some much-loved carols. We are delving into the history of the site at Pentre Awel... Pentre Awel is a ‘once in a generation’ development located across 83 acres of land in south Llanelli. It is the first development of its scale and scope in Wales, creating a unique ecosystem that co-locates business, research, academia, health, leisure and assisted living within landmark infrastructure. As Zone One reaches completion, we are reflecting on the incredible heritage of this site. Did you know Llanelli was once known as 'Tinopolis'? In the 19th century, over 80% of the world's tinplate was produced here! The area buzzed with the activity of brickworks, tinplate, and steel production. The Pentre Awel site itself is steeped in rich history. In 1861, it was home to a brickworks company established by William Thomas, leveraging the area's abundant clay deposits. Later, the South Wales Tinplate Works dominated the landscape, contributing significantly to the region's industrial boom. By the late 20th century, the site had evolved yet again, leading to its current transformation. With a nod to this rich past, Pentre Awel is designed to co-locate business, research, academia, health, leisure, and assisted living in a single ecosystem. We have handed over Phase One of the Ebury Bridge regeneration scheme! This significant milestone marks the delivery of 226 new homes for Westminster City Council, including 100 high-quality council homes, 16 returning leasehold homes, and 110 homes for market sale. This achievement represents the largest delivery of new council homes in South Westminster for the past 50 years. Sustainability and social value are at the heart of this development recognised for high levels of energy efficiency and rated as BREEAM Official Outstanding. All homes will be heated and cooled by a ground source heat pump, using warm water from 130 metres underground. Greywater recycling and blue roofs will also support these high-performing homes in a low carbon neighbourhood. Bouygues UK's contributions to the community include donating around £120,000 to local projects and contributing over 1,000 volunteer hours to various initiatives, such as The Abbey Centre, Construction Youth Trust, Women into Construction, and Social Bite. The site team welcomed five apprentices from nearby London boroughs, provided 85 weeks of work placements, offered over 50 hours of expert support to small businesses and organisations in the borough, as well as providing sponsorship to assist parents with childcare. Celebrating progress at Carmarthen’s Health & Wellbeing Hub! Bouygues UK and Carmarthenshire County Council hosted a milestone event at Carmarthen’s new Health and Wellbeing Hwb, which will provide a variety of facilities for the community under one roof. Guests, including members of the Welsh Government, took the opportunity to see first-hand the progress of the re-fit of the former Debenhams store at St Catherine’s Walk. When work is complete, Carmarthenshire residents will be able to access community health services that are being provided by Hywel Dda University Health Board. Alongside health and wellbeing services, the remodelled building will partner with Actif Sport and Leisure to facilitate a new 24-hour gym, which will include top of the range equipment, and flexible fitness suites for group and individual workouts. Managing Director for Wales and the South West, John Boughton said: "By refurbishing the former Debenhams instead of rebuilding it, we are not only revitalising nearly 8,000 square metres of commercial space in the heart of the town, we are also staying true to Bouygues UK’s commitment to environmental sustainability. As we progress with the Hwb alongside our local supply chain, this space will become an essential and accessible hub for education, healthcare, and leisure within the community." Maitland Park has won Housing Project of the Year (£40 million and over) at the Architects’ Journal Awards 2024! ‘A stand-out winner: modest, respectful, with a sense of calm,’ said the judges who loved how the new ‘knits into the existing community: it’s totally tenure-blind’. They welcomed the way the project ‘improves and enhances its immediate context’, and is ‘appropriate in scale and density’, with ‘beautifully articulated façades’. The community space – much praised – is ‘generous and light-filled,’ they said. Bouygues UK was appointed as the main contractor for this £43 million redevelopment. Delivering the scheme involved demolishing the old Aspen House, the Tenants and Residents Association (TRA) Hall, a gymnasium, and garages built in the 1930s, with successive waves of development until the 1980s, to make way for 119 new homes. The redevelopment includes a mix of housing types to create a balanced community, with 51 of these being new council homes. The project has been celebrated for achieving the borough’s first Home Quality Accreditation, highlighting its commitment to performance and the use of healthy, low-carbon materials. A huge well done to all those involved in the success of this project.
