This week, our fellows had the opportunity to learn from two user research masterminds. The dream team, Dr Helena Tendedez PhD, Senior User Experience Researcher, and Dr Lucinda Scharff Senior Clinical Specialist at Google, guided our fellows through a crash course on 𝗚𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗛𝘆𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲𝘀. “𝘛𝘰 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘴, 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘴. A stand-out member of our inaugural cohort, Sophie has gone out of her way to support BiteLabs Healthtech ever since and can often be spotted at our events. In her new role, Sophie is focused on maximising revenue and market share while teaching and facilitating surgeons in theatres across South London and the South East. She is also dedicated to successfully implementing a NICE-recommended product that aims to enhance patient outcomes and surgical practices. Congratulations, Sophie! 🚀 Last night marked the launch of BiteLabs Healthtech’s autumn cohort as we embark on another exciting 8-week fellowship with our talented fellows! 🎉 Fellows kicked off the evening with a workshop on clinical product management led by Dr Rhydian Harris. This was followed by a fireside discussion on "𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘰𝘭𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘋𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘗𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘢." A big thank you to Covington & Burling LLP for hosting us at their beautiful venue, especially to Daniel Pavin for his help organising the evening. The panel featured an impressive lineup of speakers: Michael Watts (Blum Health) Shrawan Patel, MD (PharmStar) Thomas W. (Stratt) Anthony Meyerstone (AM Healthcare) 💡 Michael Watts provided an essential piece of advice for startups: “Look for a gap in the market and a market in the gap.” He also emphasised the need to think about impact at three levels—patient outcomes, staff, and organisations—especially for those targeting the NHS. 👥 Shrawan Patel, MD Patel highlighted a key consideration for startups managing patient data. He pointed out the differing comfort levels between smaller companies working closely with patients versus larger organisations that tend to keep a distance from patient data. It was a fantastic evening filled with valuable insights and discussions. We’re heading to the US 🇺🇸 Our co-founders, Dr. Azeem Alam BEM and Dr. Salaar Al-Qass (Zac Hana), were joined in the office today by the incredibly talented, Felix Rivera, MD, who travelled all the way from Texas. In 2025, the BiteLabs Healthtech team will be launching in the USA, with our home in Boston, MA, and Felix has been an invaluable asset in navigating our curriculum, faculty, launch, accreditation and so much more. In the UK, we have trained over 1,000 clinicians, supported hundreds into tech and pharma roles across Europe, with other alumni going on to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for their own start-ups.
