What comes to mind when you hear 'Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder'? 🤔 As we recognise OCD Awareness Week, it's important to address the misconceptions surrounding this condition. Many people associate it solely with cleanliness or organisation, but the reality is far more complex. OCD affects approximately 1 in 40 adults and 1 in 100 children during their lifetime. Here are a few key insights: 👉 OCD manifests in various ways, including intrusive thoughts about harm, responsibility, or relationships - not just physical actions like cleaning or checking. 👉 Women are three times more likely to be diagnosed with OCD than men. 👉 Symptoms often emerge between ages 8-12 or during late adolescence, significantly impacting everyday life. Living with OCD can be a daily challenge, influencing work, personal life, and relationships. Let's take this opportunity to deepen our understanding, offer support, and foster an inclusive environment for those facing this condition. #OCD #MentalHealth #Support #InclusiveWorkplace

Let’s talk about menopause in the workplace! 🌍🙋♀️ This World Menopause Day on Friday, October 18th, it's crucial we address a growing issue. Over 1 million women in the UK have either left their jobs or are considering leaving due to menopause symptoms like hot flushes, anxiety, and mood swings. Shockingly, 63% of workplaces still lack formal policies to support women through this natural stage of life. As a result, many women are forced to suffer in silence, with 70% of those who take time off feeling they can't tell their employer the real reason. Employers can make a huge difference by taking action: 👉 Flexibility: Offer flexible working hours to accommodate fluctuating symptoms. 👉 Wellbeing Support: Provide tailored health services, including mental health and virtual GP access. 👉 Education: Train leaders and raise awareness to destigmatise menopause in the workplace. Let's make menopause support a priority, not an afterthought. Find out more: https://bit.ly/3rXFFlX #WomensHealth #MenopauseAtWork #InclusiveWorkplaces

CELEBRATING THE FOURTH YEAR OF BHSF PARTNERSHIP Today is World Mental Health Day, and so it is the perfect time to celebrate the start of the fourth year of our partnership with BHSF - the organisation providing Ameon’s Employee Assistance Programme (EAP). The health and wellbeing app, which integrates mental, physical and financial wellbeing elements, has empowered employees to take control of all these aspects of their lives. The app provides access to on-line GP services, a confidential helpline supporting those with mental health or emotional concerns, expert and practical legal advice, money management support and smarter spending opportunities, through discounts on hundreds of well-known brands. Many employees have engaged with the service and it has been especially helpful to Ameon’s Mental First Aid Team, who now have specialist in-the-moment support, when it’s needed. The service also extends to employee family members (over 18 years old) who reside at the same address. Ameon’s SHEQ director, Chris Mangnall is delighted that the company is able to provide such useful support services to all the workforce. He commented: “We like to think of ourselves as one big family at Ameon, therefore, supporting our ‘family’ is important to us.  “The app is providing essential support where needed. It is also proving extremely useful for those of our remote working teams, who can get quick access to other services, including the popular online GP consultations, which can be accessed from anywhere when employees are away from home. And for those who haven’t yet engaged in any of the services provided, I’m happy to provide further information, if they contact me at our headquarters.”

🌍 It's World Mental Health Day! Prioritise your wellbeing today. Today is the perfect time to explore new and innovative ways to improve your mental health. Ready to try something different? ✨ Let's tap into the power of Emotional Freedom Technique. EFT, commonly known as tapping, involves gently tapping on specific acupressure points to release emotional blockages and restore balance in the body. While EFT is effective on its own, combining it with positive affirmations can further enhance the benefits by promoting a positive mindset. When practiced together, EFT and affirmations can: 👉 Reduce stress and anxiety 👉 Improve focus and productivity 👉 Boost self-esteem 👉 Strengthen the mind-body connection Ready to give it a try? Tap on areas where you feel tension, like your head, stomach, or other points of discomfort, and repeat the positive affirmations from the video below. #WorldMentalHealthDay #EFT #PositiveAffirmations #MentalHealthMatters #SelfCare

🧠 Tomorrow is World Mental Health Day! This day serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of prioritising mental wellbeing in every aspect of our lives - including the workplace. Recent reports reveal that 1 in 10 employees took time off work last year due to mental health challenges. Even more concerning, nearly 45% of those affected were unable to return to work for a month or more*. Stress, burnout, and anxiety have become prevalent challenges, and too few organisations are equipped to offer the necessary support. As we prepare for World Mental Health Day, let's commit to: 🤗 Cultivating a culture of openness around mental health. 🤗 Encouraging employees to seek support when needed. 🤗 Providing resources such as an Employee Assistance Programme to help manage mental wellbeing. Remember, small steps like fostering connection, practicing mindfulness, and even taking a moment to breathe can make a difference. Let's strive for workplaces that don't just function but truly care. #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthAtWork #EmployeeWellbeing *Source: Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych), Society of Occupational Medicine (SOM) and Faculty of Occupational Medicine.
