We were back in parliament this week, meeting various MPs on our mission to make UK hiring faster, fairer, and safer, including the new chair of the Modernising Employment APPG Lee Barron MP! The APPG held its Annual General Meeting yesterday, signalling the start of a new parliamentary cycle and an array of topics were agreed for focus throughout the coming year, including.... ❗ AI in Hiring and Employment ❗ Reducing Barriers for People with Disabilities ❗ Reforming Digital Hiring ❗ Skills ❗ Implementing Good Work (Employment Bill/Better Hiring Charter/etc) ❗ Improving fairness for people from minority faiths and backgrounds ❗ Improving hiring and work for neurodiverse people ❗ How HR can tackle worker exploitation With MPs and peers lined up to support our work and we are ready to go! Today we are back in parliament to discuss our progress to make UK hiring the fastest globally, the fairest in the world, and the safest it can be! We are delighted to be back in Westminster today, meeting with various MPs and parliamentarians as part of our annual general meeting, and further driving change in hiring. The selection process is a rejection process, and we don't know what we are doing wrong! As young people enter the labour market each year the expectations and needs change. Last week we launched trail blazing guidance on Reimagining Hiring for the New Generation, a collaboration with Reed Screening, Bright Network, Lancaster University, and others to give UK employers practical recommendations to develop new hiring strategies. There are very real barriers in the hiring process of today, many of which adversely affect our younger population. The Better Hiring Institute, its collaborators and employer network, have long been campaigning for faster, fairer, and safer hiring. Last week we wrote to Immigration Minister Dame Angela Eagle on right to work reform, and our mission to make UK hiring the fairest in the world. With data from partners including Reed Screening we were able to demonstrate how revolutionary digital right to work has been, given that by 2030 25m people will have got a job in the UK quickly and remotely. Highlights of our submission below... 📌 Improve digital right to work inclusion by extending the range of ID documents included in the scheme so everyone can get a job remotely and quickly, not just some people. 📌 Adopt the Better Hiring Institute’s 9 Right to Work recommendations as laid out to the Director General in April. 📌 Tackle the growing fake visa and sponsor crisis. 📌 Reform the Online Checking Service (OCS) to improve information for employers.
