AXIS HARVESTING - Mushroom Harvesting Solutions

About us

AXIS HARVESTING design and manufacture Mushroom Harvesting Solutions. HARVESTING CONVEYOR - Your harvester will select and place the mushroom on the unique mushroom holding finger. The conveyor will transport the mushroom and trims the stalk while optimising stalk length with no damage to the Mushroom. MUSHROOM PROCESSING UNIT (MPU) - The MPU will Grade the mushroom by size and distribute to the appropriate punnet where the punnet is weighed and ejected when the desired weight has been achieved. We also offer a solution for processing into bulk cardboard boxes i.e. 5lb/10lb and european crates or tray i.e. 6lb tray etc. The AXIS Harvest system can increase productivity by 250% - 300% but have seen 400% increases over traditional harvesting methods. MPU pick rate of 135 pieces per minute is easily and consistently achieved by 2 harvesters on one harvesting conveyor. AXIS Harvesting units can be retro fitted to most Dutch Shelving installations or new farm builds.

Manual Harvest speed vs. Axis Harvesting’s Automated Harvest System In the evolving landscape of mushroom farming, the debate between manual harvesting and automated harvesting systems like Axis is increasingly relevant. Axis represents a blend of human oversight and mechanized assistance, aiming to combine the strengths of both traditional and modern harvesting techniques. Manual Harvesting: The Traditional Approach Manual harvesting relies on the dexterity and experience of human workers to pick mushrooms by hand. This method has several notable advantages: 1.Precision: Skilled harvesters can select mushrooms at the ideal maturity, ensuring top quality. 2.Adaptability: Human workers can adjust to varying conditions and mushroom growth patterns. 3.Immediate Quality Control: Mushrooms are inspected and sorted as they are picked, maintaining high quality standards. However, the speed of manual harvesting is limited by human capacity. Even the most experienced workers can only pick at a maximum speed of 100kg/h during the first three hours of work. By the end of the workday, week, month this speed typically drops to 35kg/h due to fatigue and reduced efficiency. Axis Harvesting’s Automated Harvest system. Axis is a hybrid system that combines human quality control with automated assistance to enhance harvesting speed. Key features and benefits of Axis include: 1.Consistent Speed: Axis helps maintain a high and steady picking speed throughout the workday, reducing the impact of worker fatigue. Axis can achieve a maximum picking speed of 125kg/h and maintain an average high picking speed consistently over weeks, months, and years. 2.Quality Control: Human workers oversee the quality, ensuring that only the best mushrooms are harvested, much like in manual harvesting. 3. Efficiency: The mechanized assistance allows workers to focus on quality assessment rather than the physical act of picking, increasing overall efficiency. For farms looking to scale operations and improve efficiency without sacrificing product quality, Axis Harvesting’s represents a balanced solution that leverages the best aspects of both manual and automated harvesting. As technology continues to advance, hybrid systems like Axis are likely to play a crucial role in the future of mushroom farming, driving both productivity and quality in the industry.
