The acquisition of former Apis Partners portfolio company adumo by Lesaka Technologies Inc., announced earlier this year, has completed, with Adumo now officially part of the Lesaka group. Apis Growth Fund I exited its position in Adumo following the acquisition. Congratulations to all involved; we wish Adumo and Lesaka every success in this new chapter.
We are thrilled to announce that as of 1 October 2024 adumo is officially part of the Lesaka Technologies Inc. Group. Welcome to all 950 of our new colleagues and we look forward to working closely together in this new and exciting chapter. adumo is South Africa’s largest independent payments processor, and this deal transforms Lesaka Technologies Inc., much like when we joined forces with the Connect Group in April 2022. It significantly enhances our technology platform, and our ability to solve customer pain points. This acquisition adds customers, solutions, and scale to our business. Without a doubt, together we are the largest independent fintech in Southern Africa providing access and inclusion to all. We now serve over 120,000 merchants who process more than R270 billion per year, and over 1.7 million active consumers. Our employees now number over 3,300 across five countries; South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, and Kenya. TymeBank’s success, coupled with its mission to drive financial inclusion by improving access to underbanked and under serviced people, aligns with Apis’ core investment philosophy that there should be no trade-off between generating financial returns and societal impact. #fintech #banking #privateequity #impactinvesting

Last week, Udayan Goyal, Managing Partner at Apis Partners, spoke at Accion Venture Lab's CEO Forum in Oxford and Fintech for Inclusion Global Summit in London. Uday discussed Apis’ track record in delivering both financial returns and impact returns to investors, demonstrating that there doesn’t need to be a trade-off between the two. He also spoke about the many emerging innovations, such as embedded payments, which Apis is most enthusiastic about. Apis was delighted to be a part of both events, which brought together leaders in inclusive financial services and technology, who are all driven to make an impactful change on a global level. #impactinvesting #FIGS2024 #fintech #financialinclusion
