En route to Nantes, France for the most ambitious and exciting presentation of my career at #Internoise2024 with Benjamin F. in Nantes. France 🎉🇫🇷. This is the first presentation of the proposals that we have developed to completely revise the way we deal with transportaion noise affecting residential development in the UK. The propsoals are to update BS 8233, which will come out for public consultation in September. If you can't make Room R2B at 16:40 tomorrow, we are presenting this at the Institute of Acoustics conference in September, and there will be a lunchtime webinar on Monday 30th September at 12 pm (formal announcment from IOA coming soon, detail in comments below). We are also presenting two other smaller-ground-breaking papers in Nantes: 1. A soundscape exploration of how "Good PR is worth 10 dB": exploring how a music venue and residential area coexist harmoniously in Newcastle's Ouseburn Valley. Catch this presentation at 08:20 Monday morning in room I, the general #soundscape session. 2. Integrating models for acoustic and thermal design of partially open windows: A simplified model, bridging the gap between comfort and energy efficiency. I have organised a session the sound insualtion of partially open windows with Lars Sommer Søndergaard and we have an exciting collection of international persepctives across 9 papers. Thursday Room R2A 8:40 till lunch time. These studies reflect our commitment to enhancing urban living through improving regulations and innovative acoustic solutions. We're pushing boundaries to create harmonious environments where sound, community, and wellbeing coexist. Looking forward to sharing our findings and engaging with fellow acoustics professionals in Nantes! #INTERNOISE2024 #AcousticEngineering #UrbanPlanning #SustainableDesign
