    Our Managing Partner, Murray McCall, Partner Fiona McKinnon, and Senior Associate Jemma Forrest recently had the pleasure of attending the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce event at the Radisson Blu Hotel, which featured a dinner with Lord Willie Haughey OBE and Sir Tom Hunter. The evening offered a captivating look into the remarkable business journeys of Lord Haughey and Sir Tom, who shared valuable insights on building a thriving business and offered top-notch advice for aspiring entrepreneurs.     Our colleagues Reece Ashmore and Sarah Thompson Robertson recently hosted our latest HR: Next Generation event at our Glasgow office.     According to the latest figures, rural crime in Scotland saw a 35% increase in 2023 compared to 2022, with the UK's total cost of rural crime rising to £52.8 million, up from £50.6 million. A big factor in this is rising inflation, which makes farm equipment a tempting target for thieves.     September 1 marked six months from the launch of The King’s and Lord Treasurer’s Remembrancer's (KLTR) innovative Ownerless Property Transfer Scheme (OPTS). This groundbreaking initiative tackles the challenge of ownerless (bona vacantia) property in Scotland, including ‘Abandoned, Neglected, or Detrimental Land or Property’ (ANDL), and aims to facilitate its transfer to community groups and public bodies.
