The Israeli military has said that it launched a ground invasion into southern Lebanon and has issued today evacuation warnings for residents of over 25 villages in the south. These warnings do not create a “free-fire” zone in south Lebanon and do not exempt Israel from its legal obligations to take all feasible precautions to protect civilians and respect international humanitarian law. Since the launch of Israel's "Operation Northern Arrows" on 23 September, the number of displaced residents mostly from south Lebanon and the Bekaa region, has risen to 1 million, according to the Lebanese government.

About us
Amnesty International is a global movement of more than 10 million people who take injustice personally. We are campaigning for a world where human rights are enjoyed by all. We are funded by members and people like you. We are independent of any political ideology, economic interest or religion. No government is beyond scrutiny. No situation is beyond hope. WHAT DOES AMNESTY DO? We investigate and expose the facts, whenever and wherever abuses happen. We lobby governments, and other powerful groups such as companies. Making sure they keep their promises and respect international law. By telling the powerful stories of the people we work with, we mobilize millions of supporters around the world to campaign for change and to stand in defence of activists on the frontline. We support people to claim their rights through education and training.

On this #InternationalDayOfOlderPersons, let’s remember that human rights don’t fade with age. We are committed to ending age-related discrimination and making sure governments protect our rights as we grow older. A campaign of wanton destruction along the occupied Gaza Strip’s eastern perimeter. A new Amnesty investigation shows why the Israeli military must be investigated for the war crime of wanton destruction in Gaza. Using bulldozers and manually laid explosives, they have unlawfully razed entire neighbourhoods to expand a “buffer zone” on the eastern perimeter. Thousands of families have been forced from their homes and their land rendered uninhabitable. Read more: http://amn.st/6046WG4ha
